Sometimes when I get bored I spend a bit of time wandering around the LABN site, sometimes doing my moderatorly duty of tweeking things here and there where I can to maintain the standard of the site. But sometimes I may stumble upon something that isn't working or a link that hasn't been fixed and if I haven't the appropriate moderator or admin access to fix the problem then I have to leave it.

Of course being the obsessive anally retentive freak that I am, such little errors weight heavy on my mind, I can't help it they just drive me up the friggin wall!

So I wanted to start a thread where if anything is not working on the site we can post it here so that The Powers That Be - namely DAVE :D hehehe CAN fix it, and hopefully I can hold on to what is left of my sanity.

I have put the mythic posts into the LABN forum...and I will need to do some more testing to make sure that that will still work as expected. The first thing you will notice is that all of the authors are mixed up.

Sorry about that, can't go back and fix it now. I'll try to get it fixed next time when I add FL.

Sorry for the board going on-and-off like a light while I was doing it, but I didn't want it to get mixed up while I was in mid-edit.

I don't know about anyone else, but I noticed that Melaina's character profile didn't come across with the rest. :( Just as well we have Mythic to use as a testing board, since it looks like the transfer process may have a few bugs in it. Imagine FL minus one or two key characters?

I put this here to seperate it from the modification history (which I put eleswhere) All This moving around is going to bollux the websites...but they all need a lot of work anyways...All be moving things around later on.

I went back some pages and revised our careless and selfish demands on your time and work and... :wink:

these things are pending - for whenever you can manage to fix them.

Lone Peak Clinic and Bonne Santè links to the Places section
The Demon Police to the Factions' one.
Mike Coulter's personal timeline doesnt work (the search needs to be changed from 'Coulter' to 'Mike')
Personal timelines stop in May. In Daye and Darian's cases it resumes with the Midseason four events.

I was uploading some Alessa and Inés pics, and somehow they ended up in the wrong categories, :oops:. My trigger happy fingers pushed the buttons too quickly. Sorry.

OK 2 weird things

1) the subjects wont change colour for me anymore indicating someone posted something new

2) Im unable to LOG OUT...llike im always logged in...weird

Heather reported similar problems today too. I went in and cleared her latenightgames cookies. and that seems to have done the trick.

Don't know how, but it seems the cookies have become corrupted.

Close your browser window first.

Go into "My Computer" open the C: drive find a folder called "Documents and Settings" in there find your user folder and in that a folder called "Cookies"

Do a search (ctrl-F) and find all the cookies with the name "latenightgames" or "forum" and delete those.

Then when you have deleted those try logging back into LABN.

If you don't use Internet Explorer, you'll probably need to do something different to clean your cookies.

I have moved ALL of the NPC pics into a single forum. While on the surface that might seem odd...it does have a purpose.

I realized that with 80+ NPCs with pictures for over 40 of them that 40+ different categories for Albums would be too many to deal with easily. And the second thing I realized is that is just this single game.

So I have devised a coding mechanism that is invisible to the interface. I'll use it when NPC galleries are being built., so that they only show the pictures I want them to.

I am not sure what prompted me to look, but I noticed that the Styles I installed aren't really being used.

BonesSilver is what Adam uses
subBlack is being used by a couple of folks
subRed is being used by one person (and she should try SubSals, I like it better ;))
subLime is being used
I use subSalsa

Besides those almost everyone uses subSilver - the default.

I don't know about you, but I like to have a different Style for me than the default becasue then I know if I am signed in or not. That's just me. You may have your own reasons, but I'll happily remove the other styles if nobody is gonna use them. They are a pain in the ass most of the time anyways.

I'm also fond of the sub-black; right now, though, I like the layout of BonesSilver. If it were possible for us to play with our own colour schemes, would be awesome, but that would probably be way too much work on your part to enable us to do.

Oh, also like ClanzDarkness, but haven't really used that one. So won't miss it if it's gone.

I'll gladly email you the files for any one of the themes we have installed. You can change anything you'd like and I'll install it under your name. I won't install new themes (from scratch) nor will I be able to guarantee it'll work.

But I can point you to some really good resources on how to modify templates.

Let me know via PM and I'll do what I can.

I periodically change my templates, but i like those with light colors better than the dark ones, they make reading easier in my opinion, so i try to avoid the latter. I'm using SubCanvas at the moment. :D

I don't have the patience to go through every post, so forgive me if this has already been answered.

I couldn't find the Personal Timeline for Benji. It comes up blank.

Also, where is the Feedback Corner post? I can't praise the writing without this thread! :)

Is it you, Kent? If it is, the Feedback corner is in the LAbn Private Game discussion forum, if not... maybe we should consider moving it to a public place. :D

Also, Benji's personal timeline should come up blank because it is linked to the general timeline that Heather keeps in the Private G. Discussion forum, and she hasnt got to timeline any of Benji's posts yet. So there's nothing to show for the moment.

Or, y'know, you could leave it where it is. My opinion counts for little. Still, it would be cool if random surfers were allowed to give a hoot. But maybe that's what the guestbook is for. Naw, I think the Feedback Corner should stay where it is. I can use the guestbook.

Actually, Jeff, Your opinion counts exactly as mch as everyone else's - not one whit I rule this board ahem sorry...Got carried away there

Actually It never occurred to me. I think it should go in "The Writing Process" that way it is accessible to members of the Board AND the Game but not wandering passers by.

I'll move it there late on this week barring any serious objection.

Beleive it or not, the personal timeline reads in ALL of the timelines for every season and then only spits back out the lines where the specific character is mentioned. It's really pretty cool. But it does depend on up-to-date timelines. And ours is sadly lagging somewhat.

Heather has been working very hard to bring it back to current and I beleive she is just starting Midseason 4 so you should be seeing everything soon.

That sounds Ok to me, Dave. It'll give us the possibility of commenting posts or writers from games we dont actually play.

On other matter, the Personal Galleries for Ellis and Inés arent working since you changed the NPC album settings. They come up blank and with this message:

You may have noticed the new logo and menu. Once I get this installed on all of the Templates, it can be pretty simply modified (I hope :?) Let me know if it causes unpredictable behavior or worse yet doesn't work.

I like the subMirza layout but I keep getting the following error message at the top of the page -

Just a suggestion, as I get to thinking on things: we currently have LABN Plotline Spoilers. This is something that would be extremely usefull for pretty much all of the games to have, so I have one of two pieces of advice:

1) Make the LABN Plotline Spoilers into a more general Plotline Spoilers thing under LNG itself.

2) Give each game its own Plotline Spoilers section.

Why?

Because we can still approach everyone as both audience and co-author, regardless of game; and sadly, fall into the trap of focusing on the former to the exclusion of the latter to our own detriment.

Just a thought.

I'm sorry to be bothersome, but the personal timeline for Alessa skips all the ending of season 4... from May 19th till midseason, it's strange, since the general timeline works well. Thanks.

Well, it turns out it wasn't just yours - it was everybody's. I hadn't linked the last post ID for Season Four in the timeline search function (which is used for the personal timelines and the timeline search). The general timeline looks at one season at a time, so we can just use the thread ID for that one, instead of pulling in the individual post IDs from all the timeline threads. I have to split the timeline threads into multiple posts because we run into the character limit and it chops stuff off at the end if I don't make a new post every so often.

Okay, that was probably way more information than you wanted or needed. Here's the shorter version:

Found the problem. All fixed now. :)

Well, i dont know if you remember this Dave, but some time ago... probably a long time ago, i mentioned you that my bbcode buttons didnt work. I mean, having selected the text, it didnt put the codes when i pressed the buttons on top. I had to do it manually. Been doing it manually for months now, which is pretty bothersome.

However, today i had this insight... what if it was because of the style i was using (i usually use SubCanvas, i like it) so i passed to SubSilver, and voila!! The buttons are working!

So the problem is with the style, i guess. I thought you should know, maybe it's solveable (is that even a word?) Because i do like SubCanvas, but i like not having to manually set bb codes too. :P

... btw i can wait till you come back from London to try and help me with my bbcodes :wink:

At least three of us (myself, Ally, and Louisa) are all having a problem sending private messages through the site. We type up the message, put in a subject line, and then the board insists that it cannot sent the message without a subject line. I've even tried sending something as a reply, and it still does this.

I had to do a security patch and it broke something...this means, unfortunately, that I will need to completely restore the board software. This usually entails a lot of pain as I re-install all of the various and sundry mods that we have come to know and love.

So as a result I am going to hold off for a little while and install it from scratch over a weekend. so if without explaination the board disappears one weekend you'll know what is going on.

The Board is now upgraded to 2.0.18 AND YOU MUST CHANGE ANY BOOKMARKS YOU HAVE THAT POINT TO THE BOARD.

It will, for the time being, redirect you if you click any links but that will only last for a short while...

Please LOG OUT and LOG BACK IN to fix your cookie. In some cases, deleting your cookies and logging back in will work better.

If you find any links in things that don't work let me know so I can fix them.

Not sure this is relevant but I thought I'd mention it. The Season Five Timeline has been linked to the Homepage, BUT, the post hyperlinks (the ones that take you to each individual post) point to Midseason Four, instead of Season Five.

I've just discoverd that the timelines are really, really broken. I tried using Leech to find out what the problem was, but even changing the post array to the correct S5 ID # didn't help with the current timeline (it's showing my bunch of roses to Lou, even though the script doesn't point to that post at all).

The Season One timeline brings up Season 4, and so on... I'm going to wait until the expert gets home to fix this. :)

I've added a CAPTCHA check for Anonymous users so that they have to enter a code when they post. I think that'll stop the robo-posters and the spambots. So I've opened up the Public lounge to the public once again.

Since the bots have already broken through the old CAPTCHA I've added this new one into the registration too. I'm hoping that it'll stop (or at least slow down) the spambot registrations. If it does then I'll open back up self-authenticated registrations too.

Sorry it broke making posts most of Saturday...I thought it would only affect the SubSilver template. But it affected all of them.
