Sometimes when I get bored I spend a bit of time wandering around the LABN site, sometimes doing my moderatorly duty of tweeking things here and there where I can to maintain the standard of the site. But sometimes I may stumble upon something that isn't working or a link that hasn't been fixed and if I haven't the appropriate moderator or admin access to fix the problem then I have to leave it.

Of course being the obsessive anally retentive freak that I am, such little errors weight heavy on my mind, I can't help it they just drive me up the friggin wall!

So I wanted to start a thread where if anything is not working on the site we can post it here so that The Powers That Be - namely DAVE :D hehehe CAN fix it, and hopefully I can hold on to what is left of my sanity.

Added to the main site:

Relinked Jack Archer (after Lou had an unfortunate incident with a delete key)

Added Jeet Su My to the characters
Added Adriana Lautari to the characters (sweetie, what's your real name? I've had to put the player part as ?? so far... )

Still to come:
Link Aimes Carmichael once he's in the NPC forum.
Add Thomas Brennan once Nick makes his first post.
Add Morachd Magnar once he makes his first post.

There are quite a few NPC's that need moving to the Morgue (with more to come after the finale) -

I won't post the death list for the finale, in case it spoils it for those who haven't yet read it :D The new NPC's I will move to the forum within the next few days.

Okay, I've moved Aimes and the Vagabond duo to the NPC forum (gonna split that topic Matt) and I'll pretty them up in the next few days.

Now the finale's up I'm also gonna be busy writing up the 'obituaries' for all our dead and missing characters, etc, etc. Bare with me :lol:

Oh, I forgot, I merged the Philip the Banana NPC written by Goddess Maia to the thread relating to that topic in the Character Profiles forum - just in case you were wondering where it went :wink:

That may explain something...i was over reading Nikolai's profile and found it linked with Godess Maia's thread....here have a look http://www.latenightgames.com/labynight/characters/nikolaichar.php ...i'm not sure whether that should be there...just wanted to let you know

The second mid-season timeline link in the second midseason description points at the current timeline (midseason 3). However, the set of quick links at the bottom correctly points at midseason two.

Fixed... Also put the ! in front of the <--Content Section--> that was appearing at the top of the Season Two timeline page (the ! tells the code that it's a comment).

I've added Toni, Vagabond and Pandora to the npc listings and tidied up the Morgue, so everyone in there now has a personal timeline and the background's all nice and uniform, etc... :)

The profile for Morris Giles features a number of interesting tag problems, specifically with the URL command in linking to other charecters mentioned explicitly in profile.

This error takes form of a space between equal sign and URL that should not be there.

Thanks for pointing it out, it's now been taken care of. I've been doing a lot of maintenance on the character profiles such as linking and updates so if any other mistakes or errors show up just let me know (though I'm normally a pretty reliable mod and check things over sometimes things slip through).

BTW, any chance of getting The Society of Ulle, The Order of Death and The Ministry profiles linked to the homepage?

Right, I've updated the word replacement section. I had added "d.a.emon" and "de.a.mon" (since I've seen the 'a' both before and after the 'e') ages ago to come out as "demon". Now I've expanded it to include "d.a.emons" and "de.a.mons" to be "demons", and "d.a.emonic" and "de.a.monic" to be "demonic". (The dots are because, of course, if I posted the words without them they would simply show up autocorrected. :) )

That should cover all the variations of "demon" that we have, along with the extensive list I have that translates back to "magic" or "magical" and all the various incarnations of "Watchers' Council". (Mostly to fix the placing of the apostrophe - I got tired of moving it from before the 's' to after - but also where one or the other initial isn't capitalised.)

Question-

My two marvelously crappy NPC proflies were in this forum, then they disappeared and yet don't appear in the NPC human section.

Forgive me if I sound impatient but did they get moved and something happen or what, yo?

I did actually mention that I would move them over after everyone had a chance to read them although I wasn't specific about which profiles I was speaking of, they were the only ones left in this forum though ;)

They are now in the NPC forum, awaiting either heather or dave to link them to the home page. Sit tight buddy :)

Adam, all you need to do is to click on the links on the main page - if you're not currently a member of the group it will prompt you to join. Just join, put in a username, and you get straight into the room. Then the next time you click on it, you're already a group member and will go right into the room.

So you can either do that now and be ready for when you need to use the rooms, or you can wait until you're part of a collab, then just do that one-off joining thingy and you'll be fine.

And Heather's only just got back from three weeks in Australia, where she didn't have access to any of the web tools needed to make changes to the site. Dave was apparently just being slack. :wink: I'll get onto that tomorrow (it's midnight and I should be going to bed now...).

I'm guessing he will be moved to the 'Missing' section where Victor is, his story also having come to an end. Though Matt, if you're out there and haven't done so already, a nice little epilogue at the end of Chance's profile would be greatfully appreciated. :D

On the same note, I like to write a sort of 'epilogue' for all character that have died or are officially 'finished with' - if the creator of an NPC wants to write their own then please do (either edit it into the profile or PM it to me) otherwise I'll write one as soon as I get round to it ;)

No, it's still not working right for me. I go to story, scroll right down to Second Mid-season Timeline and click on it. Then that cool thing happens as the page changes (which, by the way, is an effect that I LOVE!), but it gets halfway and freezes for about five seconds. When it sorts itself out the page appears with the normal layout, but where the timeline should be I get something like this:

John has reported similar problems and I am not sure what causes it. The Timeline pages is a hugely complicated fair that reads from the BBS and then assigns links to each of the entries from Heathers most accurate and thouough post references...so it could be a technical problem.

Maybe if I split the page into smaller chunks that may alleviate the errors

I know this is an old query but I think I've figured out what the problem is. It seems to be connected to what board style you have selected in your profile setting. The regular styles like subgreen, subred, subsilver, all work fine, but the above error seems to occur when you have some of the others selected. (It creates a line space everytime BBCode is used, e.g: links)

I don't know about ALL the board styles but I have noticed this to be the case when using the DarkEQ setting.

Like I said, this was an old query but I thought I'd post something here in case people were still experiencing this problem.

DarkEQ is an "older" style (pre Version 2 of phpBB) that was "upgraded" and so it might have been broken in the upgrade.

I can look for newer versions, but to be honest I am considering upgrading the phpBB Software across all of LateNightGames and want to hold off making any 'little' changes until then becasue the upgrade will just undo them.

Of course before I do that I will give everyone plenty of notice...and I will BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP

I have managed to upgrade sucessfully once before so I know it can be done, but there are some really compelling new features in the latest version of phpBB that make it a good time to upgrade.

FWIW we use 2.0.3 and the latest version os 2.0.10 (FantasticLegends is running 2.0.6)

I don't think the final section of the timeline has been linked to the homepage, that's probably where the problem lies.
