LabyNight.Friedbaloney.com is now LateNightGames.com. Eventually there will be three games running uder this domain (it was in setting up the other two games that the board got steamrollered)
I'll put the new site up gradually, but LaByNight will continue to be around for a while, just moved around some.

I found a IRC-like chat room thing that doesn't use Java, Plugins, or anything except the most basic of Javascript (supports all the down to Netscape 3).
So this should be a good deal.
It also has some interesting features (like it remembers the chat even if everyone disappears from the room...good for multi-session collabs)
Its easy to register, and you can have multiple names and best of all, its add free!
Try it out and let me know what you think. I'm leaving the default appearance for now, but it will eventually be changed to match LateNightGames or even the various game-sites.

Well, I've had a play with the chatroom, and I give it a firm thumbs-up. Seems to perform to specifications. :)

Same here, had a little play around with the various features and it looks pretty cool - nice not to have to rely on the evil genius of Bill Gates and his MSN cronies.... :D

Greg - good question. I turned it on and off and couldn't see what difference it made. Maybe you need more than one person in there to find out?

Maybe you need someone to be speaking, er - writing a load of twaddle and then you can filter it out.... though what classifies as 'twaddle' i have no idea!! :lol:

Actually, Twaddle is displayed in the "Help" section (to the right):
Since this was written by a German fellow, the English is atrocious (Poor Heather) and this includes all the code so it uses strange German words for some of the variables used...It may take me some time to get all of it translated into English.

The thing is, I read that 'help' section (and mentally translated) but the time etc. didn't go away.
Just went in and tested it again, in case I was going (more) insane. But it definitely doesn't seem to make any difference to the info. displayed in the chatroom. Is the 'twaddle' feature disabled? It's no big deal, I'm just curious....

Well the feature does not seem to work as advertised...no biggie. I just need to roll up my sleeves and try to fix it. (had to do some monkeying already) .
If those are features you want (as advertised) let me know and I'll work on them, otherwise it'll be a "get to it as I can" thing.
The other think I've noticed is that the buffer does not seem to clear automatically. Do you want an expiration on it (an automated thing) or do you want the buffer to remain until cleared? Do you want me to do it on request? or do you want it to be a delegated (moderator) function?
I'm interested in input. Anyone want to be a designated "Chat admin?"
