A mercenary group of metahumans whose services are available to the highest bidder, The Quartet is generally employed by unscrupulous businesspeople and criminal organizations to carry out various jobs. They are highly skilled, having been trained by the Medigene Security Detachment. All four members of The Quartet are from failed Medigene genome studies. To obtain the services of this group, a person must contact their “Manager”. The “Manager” books all of The Quartets gigs. He is a highly secretive and paranoid figure. No one outside of The Quartet itself knows the identity of The Manager.
The Quartet:
Mako
Mako is the leader of The Quartet. This is not because he is the smartest or the most charismatic, but rather because he is the strongest and the most vicious. Mako is a reject from the Genome Studies Project Animan. The subjects of Project Animan were all animal/human hybrids of various species. Few of these subjects survived the experimentation. Of those that did, only Mako emerged with any comparable human intelligence. The rest of the Animen were mercifully destroyed by the head of the Medigene Genetic Research Department, Silas Marsh. Marsh led the company to believe that all of the Animen had been put down. He personally decided to spare Mako. Mako is blindly loyal to Dr. Marsh.
Mako possesses incredibly strength and a violent disposition. He is brutal and believes that force can solve any problem. He is carnivorous, but does not eat people at Dr. Marsh’s request, although he has mauled more than a few. Mako is the muscle of The Quartet. He is also extremely arrogant, and despises the other three members of his group. However, he holds control because he is so unstable that Mr. Nobody, Pretty Poison, and Hardwire are afraid to oppose him.
Mako is a humanoid shark in appearance. He possesses the ability to breathe air and walk on land, but is also very comfortable in the water. He is very strong, has sharp, shark like teeth and a rough hide. He has an uncanny sense of smell as well. His appearance is terrifying, and he has been known to scare people off simply on sight.
Mr. Nobody
Mr. Nobody is a being without any form or identity. He was born in the Medigene lab as an amorphous blob. He can copy any person or thing down to the molecular level. When he is not on the job, he is living in one of many lives he has assumed since being freed from the corporate complex. At various times, he has been an international playboy, a firefighter, a waitress in a coffee shop, and even a political mover and shaker. Mr. Nobody flits from life to life, doing as he pleases. His only goal is to seek new and different sensations. Sometimes he falls back into roles he has played previously and other times he simply forgets all about them and the people he has known. Mr. Nobody works with the rest of The Quartet in order to be able to afford to do anything that strikes his fancy. He is also neither really male nor female, but as lacking in gender identification as in any other identification.
Pretty Poison
Pretty Poison is played by Rose McGowan
Pretty Poison, AKA Lily White, is a result of the Genome Studies Horticulture Hybrid Project. Her DNA has been spliced with various plants and flowers to produce a unique effect. Pretty Poison is herself poisonous. Her very molecules are filled with a variety of poisons and toxins, so much so that the simple touch of her skin is deadly. She is utterly amoral and finds it exciting to entice and then kill men with her deadly touch.
Pretty Poison enjoys pretty things and is extremely vain and self centered. She works with the other members of The Quartet out of both avarice and for her own pleasure. She is the one they employ to get close to men in power. Pretty Poison has a unique scent which is powerfully sexual and nearly impossible to resist.
Pretty Poison has pale skin and vividly green eyes. Her hair is dark black and she wears it in long flowing waves, usually with flowers entwined in them. She dresses in provocative attire at all times.
Hardwire
Hardwire is played by Matthew Lillard
Hardwire, also known as Billy Wren, was created by the Genome Studies Electro-Mechano Project. He has the abilities to operate, command, and create almost any machine. He has a telepathic link to mechanical items. He is an inventor and mechanic of unparalleled ability. Hardwire loves to tinker with things, making them new and better.
Hardwire is actually an affable guy. He isn’t good with people, but he has no real beef with anyone. Hardwire continues to work with The Quartet because of his unusual medical condition. The experimentation done on Hardwire leaves him with an enormous need for electrical energy. He has to feed on pure electricity rather than food, and The Quartet’s work supplies him with enough money to pay for it.
Hardwire appears to be a rather normal looking young man in his early 20’s. He has brown hair and a thin, wiry build. His only unusual feature is his eyes, which are bluish white and pupil less. Hardwire carries around a modified laptop computer and a large backpack full of electronic and mechanical parts and tools.
