I was sitting here reading about the final death of Ally's PC, the fact that she's now using a crappy 'loaner' and can't afford to buy herself a new one, and it occurred to me that there are many people on this board who know Ally quite well and perhaps wouldn't mind chipping in a few bucks to help her out. Let's face it, for purely selfish reasons it's in our interests that she maintain a decent presence on LABN. :wink:
So Dave and I have created this hidden group (so Ally can't see it, even as a Mod) where we can discuss this and work out ways we can help. Through discreet questions, Dave has determined from Ally that she needs about $300 US. If 10 of us contribute just $30 each, we're already there. I know some of you are less flush than others, but if we can all put in what we can afford I daresay we'll get a significant way towards our goal.
I would suggest we pool the funds and send it to her as a lump sum. Dave has a Paypal account which we can use to collect the funds, if that's okay with everyone.
It just seemed to me that with the community spirit we have at LABN it would be a shame to let one of our bright lights languish in the dark (ok, ok, I'll stop getting poetic). But you get the idea. :)

Unfortunately my financial situation is pretty dismal at the moment, I haven't had a job for almost a year now with one thing and another (mostly my pathetic health issues) :? and things are more than a little tight which is probably obvious from my frantic budgeting in the London CP thread.
I'm hoping to be able to start work again by the end of the month - which I really need since I've been surviving on a measly tuition fee reimbursal since mid-November, thankfully I have generous parents who don't mind supporting me while I sort myself out, otherwise I'd probably be living in cardboard city right now! 8O
So, I'll try and see if I can spare something - actually, it was my birthday last week and I got a bit of money from rellies so I'll see what I can do to contribute. I guess anything will help even if it's not as much as I'd like to give. Ally's been a great friend and I wouldn't want her to be relegated to the missing souls of LABN through something that could be solved by a little generousity.

Feel free to send us a postal cheque/Money Order for the funds, we should be able to deposit them at the bank. When we send the money to Ally It'll be in this sort of a form (only in US funds).
Nick: If you have paypal, it isn't a credit account, it is a debit account - so you must have funds deposited to send them.

I am reminded of a similar occasion when in LA for the first cast party. We played Sherlynn's DVD player to death, Killed it outright. So a bunch of us chipped in a few bucks each and bought her a new one.
I remember she was shocked, and it was really very touching. We are a bunch of friends and friends help each other out.
