DESCRIPTION:
Azrael is always impeccably dressed even if it is in women's clothing. Although he rarely dresses to excess as Jerry Dorsey it isn't uncommon for him to be wearing eyeliner, lipstick, or even panties despite a (mostly) ordinary outward appearance.
He is tall, broad-chested and has wings (when he uses them) that look like clouds of black smoke.

BACKGROUND:
Azrael is the instrument of the Idea (aka God) when things go seriously wrong. Where Brinkley and Ra are a strike team, Azrael is a tactical nuke. He has been known to lay entire cities to dust (Soddom, Gommorah, et al) and to decimate generations of children (Egypt) or to kill everyone in a small church in Alhambra on Christmas Eve.
Oz and Azrael have known each other as friends both before and after Oz became human. Azrael has been assigned to make Oz an angel again. Why Azrael has been chosen for this task is not clear.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
Azrael has the same powers of prayer as all angels. He also has the ability of flight (although he rarely uses it). Azrael can also "step sideways" into an insubstantial realm between life and death where he can converse with the recently dead or other supernatural beings.
Azrael has the ability to travel "beyond the gulf" to a heavenly realm where some human souls are known to travel and where other beings similar in nature to Azrael reside.
Azrael has the ability to extinguish the life of any mortal of his choosing. He uses this power as sparingly as he can to insure the precise results he needs. There is no effective limit to how many mortals he can affect at one time. If Azrael extinguishes the life of a mortal it is effectively destroyed and will have no after-life or continue spiritually - its life-force ceases to exist.
ITEMS:
Azrael uses a flaming sword from time to time, but it's hard to find an outfit for such a bold accessory so he rarely uses it.
