Under the guise of his glamour, Aimes has the appearance of an attractive middle-aged man in his late forties. He has dark hair, brown coloured eyes, is about 6’2” in height and of an average to muscular build. He likes to wear smart clothes that assert an air of authority such as well-cut suits or pressed chinos and crisp linen shirts. His body is made up of a thick, grey chitinous skin-like shell with patches of black fur and protruding spikes on his elbows and knees.
(Aimes Carmichael is played by Pierce Brosnan)
BACKGROUND:
Born Amis Michael Carr in the year 1511, Aimes history is the basis for many folklore and fairy story. Aimes was born in to a large, though rather poor family who lived and worked on a grand country estate in the Vale of Blackmoor. During his childhood, Aimes was human and mortal until a run in with a local witch. He stole fruit from her garden and when he was caught, the witch transformed him into a hideous demon in punishment for his crime. The villagers were horrified by his beastly appearance, believing that the demon had murdered the boy Amis who had gone missing and in their anger, drove him into away. Thus Aimes was forced to live alone in the wild and inhospitable moors of Blackmoor.
Over the months Aimes became afraid and lonely, he detested his demonic visage and longed to return to his family. As a demon, Aimes found himself unnaturally strong, this enabled him to hunt for his own food and easily build shelter – though it was little comfort for the life he had lost. Aimes also found that he was unable to speak as normal humans, but instead only utter a series of strange growling sounds. He lived in such a manner, in empty caves and badly made hovels, living off the flesh of birds and rabbits (occasionally stealing cattle from the neighbouring villages) for many years. It was a lonely existence and Aimes would often howl into the night, lamenting his sorrowful existence.
Unknown to Aimes, however, he had come to the attention of another local witch called Irina Owens, a woman who was also exiled to the moorlands when her craft became known to her kinsfolk. She watched the demon for many months, unbeknownst to Aimes, and felt a strange sympathy for him. One day she appeared outside of his hovel, Aimes was afraid despite his own brutish appearance, because this woman was a witch like the one who had cursed him. He tried to frighten her away but, knowing it was an act, the witch was not affected.
Bound by their mutual exile and loneliness, the two formed a steadfast friendship and travelled the moors together for the next thirty years. Aimes learned much from the witch, she taught him all about the craft, how to heal himself using herbs and crystals – and all the while searching for a antidote to his demonic curse but sadly to no avail. As the years passed, Aimes gave up the search for a cure, he became used to his ‘new’ appearance and also re-learned how to communicate. As his companion grew older, Aimes was saddened to see that he remained unchanged. Realising that she would die and leave Aimes alone, Irina took him to meet with a small group of male warlocks that resided in London known only as The Order of the Ministry.
When the witch died, Aimes stayed with the Order on a permanent basis. The gentlemen of the Order knew the benefits having a demon like Aimes could provide and offered him employment within their growing organisation – providing him with a powerful glamour spell – a mystical illusion that would hide his appearance from the majority of the outside world.
Since then, Aimes has worked devotedly for The Ministry as a Senior Field Agent. He is sent on ‘missions’ all around the world, making up for his previous life in seclusion. Although Aimes has become much more ruthless and cold-hearted in his years working for the Ministry he still remembers fondly his life with Irina, lamenting her loss still after all these years.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
Aimes has no special powers as a demon; he is quite strong in a brutish manner although he has leaned to control this over the years. He does, however age at a much slower rate than humans although this does not make him immortal. He is susceptible to injury and illness, though his demonic skin is very tough and manages to preserve his health quite well against foreign substances. Aimes real power is in the small amount of magical knowledge he has acquired over the years. With much concentration he can communicate telepathically but this task drains him considerably, as does any other magical endeavour since his physiology is not suited to such activities.
His main strength is his connection and influence within The Ministry, which is comprehensive to say the least after almost two centuries of employment therewith.
