DESCRIPTION:
Dathan has white-green irises that emit a luminous greenish light. He has no apparent pupils. He has long wavy hair which cascades down his back. He has pointed ears and his face is perpetually in a bestial snarl. He is tall, 6' 10", with broad shoulders and a muscular build.

BACKGROUND:
Dathan was worshipped in ancient cultures as a god of destruction. Often priests would pray to have him destroy their enemies or to destroy evil spirits that might have plagued them.
Throughout the ancient world Dathan's symbol: a bat with a long tail is found. Dathan is often associated with the Devil (an image he does nothing to discourage). Often those who recount "deals with the devil" are actually telling about an encounter with Dathan.
Dathan uses his magic sparingly, preferring to use his muscles and wit instead. When he does use magic he does it in such a way as to enhance his physical skills.
The last confirmed sighting of Dathan was in Venezuela where he and a cult of bat-worshipping fanatics burned several villages in the name of "conserving natural habitats" and murdered hundreds of innocent lumberjacks and mill workers.
Eyewitnesses report an "enormous long-tailed bat" flying before the mob at night.(El Diario (1997))
POWERS/ABILITIES:
Teleportation ~
Dathan possesses the ability of teleportation. The only one of the brotherhood to have this ability. He appears in a billowing column of smoke and disappears in the same way, often leaving behind a hint of sulphurous smell. It is not known what the limits of this ability are, but it must be considerable because there is evidence that Dathan visited the pre-columbian Americas.
Transmogrification ~
Dathan has numerous bat-like forms. From a standard-sized bat to a gigantic monstrous bat. He has bat-human hybrid forms and one form that somewhat resembles the "traditional" image of the devil (sans pitchfork). Presumably he can use all of the abilities of a bat including echo-location and flight. Bats also possess a superior sense of smell. In combat, Dathan uses only his own claws and fangs, he prefers to do sweeping rake attacks, appearing out of clouds of sulphurous smoke and raking his opponents before disappearing again.
Magic ~
Dathan is an accomplished sorcerer but (as noted above) uses these abilities rarely except to enhance his own physical abilities (defensive shields and telekinesis for example). He has been known to imbue items with the ability to "contact him" to enhance his reputation as "El Diablo". He can presumably teleport to any number of "lairs" and retrieve items at will.
Dathan has the typical abilities that all ancient vampires posses: Thrall, immunity to telepathy and mind control, resistance to Holy Items, and minions, toughness and super strength.
