Later that night after the fight - 24th July 2006
((just a small post ))

As James walked alongside Krispin, something he'd said earlier just registered. “Hoi, Krispy. You said something about me being a diablerist earlier. I know what it is but I’ve never done it.”

Krispin backhanded James across the chest, sending him sprawling across the floor. “Never call me Krispy!”

Krispin held out his hand which James duly accepted. “To answer your question, YOU may not know how to do it but Ripper certainly does."

James gave an quizzical look towards Krispin. “Me and Ripper share the same body so wouldn’t I have the power as well?"

Krispin nodded, “It should be, but it is beyond me why you aren’t more powerful, It is even beoyned me how you know of such an ritual i myself never found out about it untill well into my late hundreds but you, a mear child in comparrison knows about it "

James looked at krispin while walking briskley " the only reason i know what it is ,is becuase when i was first embraced i met a rather nastey bloke who was after me and lucin when we finaly took him down turned out the cunt had been in america before it was even called america, turned out that the bloke was a mowhawk indain, and the sheer fact that we were noware near mowhawk terrtory at the time kind of gives you an idea how old this guy was"

Krispin gave a puzzled look towards James " so what you tortured this guy and he blabbed about it to you "

James nodded " yea turns out they have been doing it for thousands of years learned it from the blood gods , my best gess is some mayin vampire priest dude figured out how to do it and he became a boig bad before he finaly bit the dust "

Krispin stoped suddnley " so you know what happens with the soul then "

James stoped alongside krispin " what soul ?!?

Krispin started to walking again shortley followed by james "its not all the blood that gives the power, its the human soul every soul as vampire takes by draing a person of there blood or just plane killing gives a vampire a insugnifcent increase in power but when added to a vampires own 2 insignifcent incrases make a small incrase, ach its to complacated to get into withsomeone like you "

James took offence to this comment "what the fuck do you meen someone like me "

Krispin looked at james and conntinued walking

They finally stopped walking when they came to a room. Krispin opened the door, pushed James in and slammed the door hard behind him. The room was covered in crosses.

James could hear Krispin's words echoing outside. “This is the test of your mental stability.”

Diablerie (or any act that increases your personal power at the expense of another vampire's life) is not possible, probable, or even allowed in the LABN Mythology. The closest thing that exists is a restorative ritual to restore a vampire that has lost power.

All Things Philosophical on Buffy The Vampire Slayer wrote:
The ritual to restore a sick vampire: In a church during a full moon, the hand of the sick vampire is bound to her sire's. Both are stabbed in the hand, allowing the blood of the sire to flow into the open wound of the ailing vamp. Blood and energy ebb from the sire until he is dead, and the sick vamp is restored. Spike sets up this scene, burning incense and using the Du Lac Cross with a dagger inside of it to create the wounds. He says:

Eligor. I name thee. Bringer of war, poisoners, pariahs, grand obscenity. Eligor, wretched master of decay, bring your black medicine. Come. Restore your most impious, murderous child. From the blood of the sire she is risen. From the blood of the sire, she shall rise again.

The Du Lac Cross is a one-of-a-kind artifact that is a decoder key for the rituals which were in Du Lac's journals.

Vampires also do not have souls. Of any kind. They are demons inhabiting a human body. The Vampire demon forms its personality from the essence of the soul that formerly inhabited the body.

LABN: Vampires wrote:
Vampires do not have souls, as souls leave humans at the point of death and all vampires were either killed in the process of the embrace or subsequently killed by their demons. However, a sort of residue of the hosts soul remains after the embrace and to a great extent makes up the vampire's personality. This personality, however, is often very different from the personality of the host before the embrace, as vampire demons corrupt and twist the soul-essence of their host. Because of this, vampires are often a sort of character foil of their former selves. Despite this corruption on the part of the vampire demon, vampires often retain tendencies and mannerisms from their former human existance.

This is how the World of Buffy Works. It is both tricky and very nearly a one-of-a-kind event for things like "souled vampires" and "restoring sick vampires" to occur.

What this post does is throw out all of the established mythology in favor of a completely different one that is unknown to us and favors specific characters. This is a big no-no. We all share a universe that has consistent rules and where things act in an expected fashion. When you change the mythology in effect the rules change for everyone.

There is another world where the events described are considered part of the mythology and are countered by societal structures that balance it. In White Wolf vampires are hugely stronger than Buffyverse vamps. Even the most newborn 15th generation whelp would kick a Buffyverse vampire into dust. The same holds true for the Anne Rice vamps. They are a lot tougher and a lot stronger than Buffyvamps.

But Buffyvamps have one advantage...they have very vew enemies. The occasional freelance hunter and the Vampire Slayer covers most of them. With so few natural enemies the only people you have to worry about are the ones you piss off.

I hate to have to use an editorial hammer but I am doing it to preserve the environment of the game for everyone else.
