Ok, this is partly my bad because I've been so slack with editing the game board and so forth lately that I've only just seen the post that has prompted this. It's been up there for some time, so I'm sorry for the lax response. Normally I would have been on this straight away.
For anyone wanting to use an existing setting (or communal npc for that matter), it's important to ensure you maintain consistency and continuity with what has come before. Otherwise we wind up with a very confusing world where a place is one thing in one post and something entirely different in another post.
There's a section on the main site that contains descriptions of places and the people who inhabit them. And if in doubt, there's always the Windows "Find on this page" function which can be used on the Season One timeline to find the introductory posts that relate to these places. They often have detailed descriptions, since they're the first post dealing with the setting, and can be invaluable for giving you the right 'feel' for a setting. Certainly, they can give you an idea of how far you can stretch a setting to suit your particular post, and which bounds you shouldn't break.
If you're reading this and wondering "Oh, God, is she talking about my post?", don't worry. I'm sending a PM to the player whose post prompted this, so if you don't have a PM from me, it wasn't you. :)
