PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
I am going to go ahead and throw in my two cents' worth too. Hope no one minds.
So, here goes.
Derek Park: I really like this idea. It is very different from anything we already have. I would love having another researcher type on the board as we could share some of that responsibility. All in all, I think we should ask him to join us.
Kain: Well, I am sure he will end up realizing what all the people playing evil PC's have and that is that it is not that much fun in the long run. As characters go, I like the ideas here. I would hope we could convince him to change his name, though.
Tommy D: I think there ought to be some other way to become a vampire hunter than just losing everyone you love to the forces of evil. I like the other aspects of the character, though.
Reah: I have already read some of the posts Amanda has done, and I think she would be a great asset to us. I like the jaded twist to this character. We should invite her in.
MIchelle: I don't know about this one. We need more concrete details here, I think. I was confused about her powers. Does she have any? And if not, then how can she be a powerful witch? We should really talk to her and get a better idea of what she has in mind.
I must say this is very exciting. I can't wait to see how many serious players we get for next season.
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
I think those are good ideas. I don't think that anything we did last season would be too intense for a 13 year old. Particularly one who watched Buffy last season. The show itself is pretty mature subject matter. So, hopefully if the applicants are allowed to watch Buffy then they will have no problems in the game.
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
Although when it comes down to legalities you can never be too carefull...
Query
In responce to a conversation i had with Heather - will there be a limit to the number of Newbies we accept to join the game??
Personally I'd prefer to have a handful of well rounded new players who were dedicated to playing the game than 12 or so half-hearted players who just homogenised the game (as in having too many demon hunters, witches, vampires with the same background).
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
Mutter, bloody mutter - just spent ages typing up my thoughts on all this, and the bloody board logged me out and now I have to do it again from scratch. Dammit!!!!!
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
Right, here goes for the SECOND time… *cracks knuckles*
Derek Park
Something new here – good to see. I like this character concept, though (as always) I would like to see some more detail. The main thing I'd like to find out is the extent of his 'magic' power as bestowed by the demon. Can he teleport entire cities full of people at once, or does he struggle with opening a locked door? We don't necessarily need specifics but it would be nice to know more or less where between these two extremes his ability lies.
With that taken care of, I'd be quite happy to see John join our little group.
Kain
First thing – if this character joins he's going to have to change his name. Also, I think Rick may have put his own birthdate for Kain's – because if he was made a vampire in 1976 he had to have been born before 1987!
With regards to the character, I love the idea of a vampire assassin. It will certainly add some new twists to our plotlines – though I wonder how long it'll be before Rick decides (as have most other players who started with bad guys) that playing a 'baddie' has hairs on it. But I can see it now – Tash is tracking this vamp, only to see him kill a bunch of other vamps. Does she kill him anyway, or leave him alone 'cause he can kill more vamps than she can? What a dilemma!
This one gets a thumbs-up from me.
Tommy D
Here we have martial arts, bit of magic, vengeance-driven vampire hunter… Nothing terribly original, but nothing wrong with the character either. Though as usual, I wouldn't mind a fraction more detail in some areas. And, another Aussie! :) (Boo sucks to Dave  )
Reah Kossinton
Here we also have martial arts (no magic this time), motorbike riding, vengeance-driven vampire hunter. Anyone sensing a theme here?? Again, nothing original in the concept. The thing is, this one's got a beautifully detailed background, and Amanda's obviously keen from what I've been reading on the rest of the board. And, yet another Aussie!! :) :) Looks like you'll have to put up with at least one more of us, Dave. :P
At the moment we already have 3 hunters in the game, though I know there are only so many archetypes to go around. And I'm probably most protective of the hunter archetype since Tash was the first. But in this particular case, it's hard to get past Amanda's quality and enthusiasm. The hell with it! We'll form a whole new society of LA vampire hunters… why not?
Michelle Lawrence
OK, I'm confused. There's a bit of contradiction here. If she's powerful – how powerful? But if she has no 'active' powers, how can she do spells? :?
Overall, this submission could do with a fair bit more detail, especially in the matter of clearing up the question of her magic abilities. But I'd also like to see more of her personal history – this character's a little sketchy. Given some fleshing out, though, another possibility for inclusion.
OVERALL
Well, of the five new characters submitted here, any and all of them have the potential to make interesting inclusions into LA By Night. Some are better constructed than others, but all have the potential. With so many submissions we have the chance to be quite picky.
The main question at this point is really: how many new players can the game support? So far we have 10 of the original players (me, Dave, Robin, April, Louisa, Adam, Kris, Greg, Alice and Hannah) and we've added Neil (Logan) and Sid (Sam). This makes a total of twelve at this stage. Should we set a maximum? If so, what? Fifteen?? I think much more than that and we'll start to run into some serious overpopulation issues.
Hmm....
As far as my opinion goes, I thought even I (number 12, I think) was too much for a roleplaying game. 'Course, I was thrilled to be let in.
When I used to do tabletop gaming, I thought two players was too few, and six players was the max. Four or five was spit in your eye...in a positive way.
:)
I remember, for instance, my acquaintance Jerod's Call of Cthulhu game of 18 players! He had no choice but to kill half of us off during the first two sessions. Sadly my John Constantine rip-off was the first to go. Not that I can blame him. (My character had a van called the Mystery Machine and dog named Scooby--I was young---can you blame Jerod?)
As a new person (still!), I have had difficulty following all the stories. I have gotten the gist of it, mind you, sometimes certain stories blend together. Sometimes I mix up Jessica and Mantheana simply because they both own dogs. Silly, I know, for all of you who've been here from the start, but it's a fact. A fact that I'm shameful of.
I must be content with the flow of the story as I remember it. . .as I remember it AFTER reading several dozen posts.
Too many players is simply TOO MANY. I hate to be that way, but that's my opinion. Even if Sam Aubrey were to be cut from Season two, I'd have to think, "Well, that makes sense." PLEASE DON'T CUT ME. But, if you do, I'll have to side with rationality.
Well, I'll welcome anyone who joins; that's fact #2. I like a large community. But I won't object to a limit, either.
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
The fact of the matter is not everyone posts as much as I do or even as much as Heather or Dave or April etc. does.
Even with both Logan and Sam we still aren't AS full as we used to be. I'm not saying this is a bad thing - just a thought, last season we lost Cian, Tempest, Zack, Bereaver, Wisewoman and Zayn (did i miss anyone?) from our members list.
With two newbies so far, i'd say we could legitimately have room for 3 or 4 more players depending on how everyone else feels about this. I WOULDN'T just bring in new players for the sake of having new players and making up the numbers - but because they had either a unique style of writing or an interesting character.
Since we still have some way to go before season 2 it might also be interesting to see if any new members drop out in the mean time. I know it sounds crazy but you can bet it WILL happen!
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
From what I've seen so far, it will happen.
On the first subject, though you've all pretty much taken apart the DARK PRINCE character, I've got to know:
What is the shelf-life of 200000000000000 (or whatever) heads, and are they kept in a freezer? It strikes me as comical. Which is okay, because I think Buffy-writing calls for some tongue-in-cheek stuff. What if he gets the heads stuffed? That would be so silly it's cool.
Also, why does he need to jump high if he can fly?
I don't think its necessary to be too picky, but I took the LABN admission form to be something like a job application. Typos happen. But when a potential player is clearly just throwing words onto the page, not bothering to capitalize and whatnot, that might point to an indifference that means
I WON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR GAME IN THE SLIGHTEST.
I don't mean to be preachy, really. Still, I used to GM a lot. And I had standards as to what would work for my story. The story is above even the players and the GM. It's the deity that we all create to worship.
maximum capacity
You know, this occured to me too. Although I would love to invite everyone with a halfway decent idea and the modicum of writing ability to join our intrepid ranks, but at some point won't it just be impossible?
How many people can we honestly sustain? This is an issue that may soon need to be adressed.
my two cents
Ok, I think I agree with a lot of this. I think there is such a thing as too many players and such a thing as too similar as well. We have to be careful not to have too many people playing the exact same thing (ie, wiccas), or we will lose any sort of individuality and therfore, creativity.
I do have to say, though, that I would welcome anyone who wanted to join us.

Kain: Change name. He's In. Invite goes out tonight
Tommy D: He's Out. Regrets Letter tonight
Reah: She's In becasue she's enthusiastic and has been outgoing. Anyone in touch with her personally can invite her.
Michelle: She's out. Regret Letter goes out tonight.
I have ANOTHER batch of 5 or so to put up here (in another topic). But these have been handled. What would I ever do without your guys to make this easier on me? Nick thought he and Graham were going to do this all on their own...Pbbbbblt! They wish!
The Last Batch....(Lets Hope)
We have 14 we can realistically support one...maybe two from this batch (but we do not have to)...
Here they are (with my comments as usual).
NOTE: I locked out the other character submission groups...we are done with them...

Tabby

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
charname: Tabitha Bennington; Nickname: Tabby
race: Human
gender: Female
bdate: August 24th, 1978, Staten Island, New York
group: The Coven of Athena
position: 2nd High Priestess
descript: Tabitha has shoulder length dark brown hair which bring out her green eyes. She usually has her hair in pigtails, just so Tabby can remember her parents. Tabby stands at 5'3. She has very few freckeles & has a very light tan.
history: Tabitha Bennington was born in Staten Island, New York in 1978 to Robert & Margaret Bennington. Both were devoted Catholics & despised the idea of witchcraft. As a toddler, Margaret only let Tabby watch Cartoon Network & the Catholic Channel.
Tabitha first discovered her telepathic powers when she was 3 years old. Her mother placed her infant brother Jared next to her, turned on the t.v. to the Catholic channel, & left the living room. The remote was right in front of Tabitha, who was eager to watch Scooby Doo. She looked at the remote & without doing anything, she changed the channel to Cartoon Network. Tabitha was shocked by this, & excited. So for the next 2 years, she made everything move. But one day at the breakfast table, Tabby bent a spoon right in front of her mother. Margaret was horrified, believing is was some kind of witchcraft. So she told a young Tabitha that if she ever saw her doing such "devil-work" again, she would send her to a school in Scotland.
Tabitha now knew her mother hated her powers, but she had learned so much that she decided to expand her telepathicy in secret. It worked for 5 years. One day, Robert came home from work to find the house empty. Margaret left him a note saying that she brought Jared to the doctor, but Tabby was home. When Robert walked into Tabitha's room he was shocked to find his 10 year-old daughter's stuff spinning around the room. When Tabitha saw him, everything dropped to the floor. Robert grabbed his daughter by the wrists & brought into the living room. She confessed that she had been practicing her powers for years. When Margaret came home, Robert told her what happened & she nearly fainted. That night, they discussed what they would do about Tabitha. Finally, they decided to call a phyciatrist.
The next week, Dr. Richard Barnes talked with Mr. & Mrs. Bennington about their daughter's "issues". Secretly, Mr. Barnes was a watcher in the Watcher's Council. He told the Benningtons that Tabitha has telepathic powers, an amazing ability. Robert informed Richard that they want to get rid of it. Dr. Barnes then told them about vampires & demons & the continuess battle between good & evil, & that her ability can help good win. At that point, the Benningtons started thinking he was crazy. Finally, Robert & Margaret believed him & agreed to send Tabitha to London. The day Tabitha left, her parents gave her a silver locket with their pictures in it. She never took it off.
For 14 years, Tabitha lived with Mr. Barnes & studied in England. By the end of high school, Tabby was validvictorian & when she finished Oxford, she graduated with honors. Her powers also got stronger. Richard taught Tabitha how to mix her telepathic powers with magic. Over the years Richard had become a father figure to Tabitha.
In 2002, Richard sent Tabitha to Greece to join an order called The Coven of Athena. The coven was made up of witches, wizards, warlocks, & people with other special powers. She was only 24 & still the youngest of the coven. Tabitha quikley more powerful than the other members.
By 2004, Tabby was elevated to 2nd High Preistess, a feat usually held by witches taking hundreds of years to complete. She started scaring some of the other humans & a few witches, but most were greatful that such a powerful force was on the side of good. Still, Tabitha remembered her teachings from her parents & Richard, that good should always prevail.
Alas, the earth's demon problems were getting worse. So The Coven of Athena sent the strongest warriors all over, including Tabitha. She was assigned to Los Angeles, having some of the worst demons issues. The coven had faith in Tabby & knew she wouldn't let them down.
Tabitha stepped of the airplane knowing that her main concern was to find others that could help with the mission. She held her talking cat, Dayton, close by her as she walked into the streets of L.A.
items: Tabitha entered L.A. with her silver locket, which she has never taken off. She brought with her a bookbag full of clothes, food, & $500. Along with her is her talking black cat, Dayton, who is like a mini-watcher.
powers: Tabitha first "magic" were her telepathic powers. She was only able to make things move, float, bend, & brake before Richard. Afterwards, not only was Tabby able to make objects move, float, bend, & brake, but now she can make them change colors, change the shape, smell, & taste, explode, make an object inviable, turn it into energy, change the object into something else, & perform spells on it. Tabitha can teleport if she wants, but she's still learning. She can float in mid-air & sense powerful forces. Tabby's not the most physical personwhich is sort of a weakness.

Lots of potential to work from but want to see it fleshed out some...I May just ask her for more info via email...
Well, here's what I think.
Ok, here we go again. :)
Lothar: First off wasn't that the name of the lame and ridiculous villain in the Buffy movie. And I don't think we need any more bad guys. It never works out.
Saz(?): We just don't really need any more witches. Sorry.
Soul Destroying Angel: Is this a character name? I could take this one of two ways. On the one hand, I disagree with Dave, as a player in the game. This is original. The powers might need to be toned down, but I do think the Siren idea is unique. However, on a personal level, as I have mentioned to a couple of people, I have a major fear of mermaids. I think they are disgusting freaks of nature, abominations that should never even be imagined. They totally and completely creep me out. So, I am really torn on this one.
Desdemona: Very original idea and well written submission. A good possibility.
Tabitha: I hate to say no to someone who obviously put so much effort into her character idea. Still, this is nothing really new. And too powerful in my opinion.
Katazeen: Give me more. I want to know what sort of demonic powers she has, and what her demon race is like. Also, more detail about her past. I like, though.
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
Daye took most of the words right out of my fingers. (As I was about to type them. We must be online together.) However, my impressions:
Lothar and Saz and Katazeen leave me feeling a little flat. Hard to comment when feeling flat. But I like the submissions in part because they show that the potential player(s) have spent some time on. At least there's something to read there.
I hate the name Soul Destroying Angel. Maybe a name change? But a vindictive mermaid could be in the spirit of Buffy, a show of weird characters, it also could bring vengeance demon-esque stuff into play. Personally, I like any character that echoes the Buffy (or Angel) show, just to remind us that we're not playing Vampire the Masquerade. Such a character could open up the worlds of the Pacific Ocean and LA River to play. And we all know that mermaids (yes, Daye, those creepy mermaids) are capable of great drama. S.D.A. could *ahem* make a SPLASH.
I loved Desdemona's line "and like as soon as you become a vampire you suddenly know martial arts or something. at least thats how it was on buffy." I totally agree. This person is a Buffy fan who can at least appreciate the show despite its cheese elements. Maybe that perception alone would make her a good player. (But I'm biased; I'm always pushing for the balance of humor/horror/drama in my posts. It's what I watch Buffy for, that very balance.)
Didn't like Tabitha.
Vote NO on her. Vote PERHAPS YES on the mermaid with the name problem. Vote MAYBE, WELL, PERHAPS NO on the rest.
I really think that the next time you allow submissions you should offer suggestions for what you're looking for.

Lothar - This idea is okay but its just another bad guy which I don't think we need any more of.
Saz - Yet another witch so I would say no.
'soul destroying angel' - Hey, another one of my school buds! (I think anyway from the place the character was born and everything else) anyway depsite that I would say no to this character. I don't really see how this character could be involved with the other players if its a mermaid and I agree with Dave, too powerful.
Desdemona - Good concept here, not like any other characters. I like this idea but Dave your gonna have to explain the souled vampire and the Black Veins thing to me (I don't really see them liking a souled vampire).
Tabitha - My first reaction? 'Hey it's Matilda!'. I don't really like this idea, she's too powerful.
Katazeen - I like this idea but I think a bit more info is needed.
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
Another batch.... Right..... I'm down to the point where I'm just going to be brutal. We've had so many submissions, and some of them have been truly excellent, so my standards are becoming stricter. Also, we're rapidly approaching 'full to bursting' point, so our last one or two will have to be exceptional to make it in.
Lothar
While standard vampires are necessary, this one strikes me as fairly bland. Given the quality of submissions to date, I'd be inclined to suggest he go back to the drawing board.
Saz
Too powerful, not enough background detail. Witches we have plenty of, and there's really nothing to make this one stand out for me.
Soul Destroying Angel
Refreshingly original concept, BUT ... I don't see how a mermaid character will work in the game. She won't be able to leave the water..... Also, way too little background detail. I know, generally we can ask people for more detail, but like I said I'm down to the point of being totally brutal.
Desdemona
Another semi-vampire.... Hmmm. On principle I have to say that we've already more than got our quota of characters with both souls and vampire traits. If it were original I'd be tempted to say go with this one. Hehe, given my early thoughts on how to orient Tash it'd be interesting to have a homosexual character - but I just can't get past the 'vampire with a soul' thing. Sorry, it's been done to death already.
Tabitha
Do I even need to explain why I say 'no' to this one? Detailed background, but really way too powerful and she falls into the 'yet another witch' category. (Mind you, I've said yes to another vampire hunter in the last batch... *sigh* )
Katazeen
Way too little detail. And time-travelling? Hmm, too powerful I'd think. Perhaps if the time-travelling were removed and we actually got a history, at least the half-demon pc is still new.
Right, well I said I'd be brutal - and I was. I honestly think we could do better than any of these submissions... As always, there is definite potential in all of them, but I'm distinctly underwhelmed.... If some of these had been in our earlier batches I'd probably have been more generous, but at this stage I'm not inclined to cut much slack.
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
Lothar
Is something missing from this submission? It just seems to stop mid-way... Any how, well, yeah - what can you say? Just a standard vampire with a not very interesting historical background (sorry!) - I think if we needed any vampires in the game we could make better NPC's standing on our heads!
Saz
Urm, yeah, again - not enough history to make her a truely unique character and ANOTHER BLOODY WICCAN! Basically she's just too powerful for our lot.
Soul Destroying Angel
Well, urm, interesting name, should we call her SDA for short? Well I like the ability's and it's all very original, but a mermaid wouldn't really blend in on the streets of Los Angeles! Sorry - this is quirky - I LIKE quirky, but this is just too much!
Desdemona
Did I read a different submission? Sorry but I just HATED this one, I didn't think it was well written AT ALL, in fact I thought it seemed pretty skatty. I think the player wrote more about her obsession with Faith than her character! I also don't like the idea of ANOTHER vampire hybrid - one with a soul - BEEN DONE ALREADY!!
While it would be interesting to have a diversity of sexual preferance I just don't think it should be for that reason soley. This just was not original enough for me I'm afraid.
Tabitha
Okay so by this point I am sounding like a total bitch but - NO NO NO. REALLY didn't like this one either - too powerful, not enought DEPTH - lots of info, no depth - no structure. Plus i think we are dealing with a total Sabrina fan which MUST be wrong!!!
Katazeen
Gee well you'd think you just might notice horns growing from your elbows! While i would like to see more demons in the game there just wasn't enough info on this character to make it viable in my opinion. What KIND of demon is she? What is her purpose? Does she have one?
Plus, 'time travel'? That seems a little extreme to me.
Gee - I think Heather's brutality is catching  sorry - but i feel the same, we already have some REALLY good newbies in our midst and i don't feel that anything here will add anything worth having to the game.
Why am I doing this?
Ok, I feel I must defend the mermaid in at least one if not more than one way. (Do I have a fever or something?)
First off, the idea of a Siren is quite good and with a little help this could be a great character. Secondly, we are not far from the sea and in many mythos, mermaids can assume legs. This would eliminate the problem many seem to have with this character. And trust me, I know my mermaid mythos. (Know thine enemies and all.)
Ok, there you go. I am breaking out in a cold sweat here, but I still like the originality and the creepiness of this concept. Thanks.
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
Oh i agree i like the mermaid best out of the lot - though she could do with a name change - Soul Destroying Angel is just.. sorry, dumb. It isn't a name it's a title or race or - maybe she put it in the wrong box?
Any how, I like the idea of her being a sort of vengence demon - maybe if she was a demon in a more regular sense - in a less fishy sense. It's just this is gonna be 'SPLASH' all over again!
I like the idea of her torturing men who have hurt anybody in their past - ahaha, sorry guys!! :P
If Katazeen could have a motive like this I would be happier with her submission. Damn I just want to rip out the good parts and stick them together to make ONE REALLY GOOD CHARACTER!
Like a vengence demon who has a vendeta against MANkind - and punishes them accordingly - oh and you guys could make her gay cause you seemed to like that idea! :)
BTW Kris - what is with the fish/human phobia? Is there a story there or something?
Just my idiosyncracy
Ok, so doesn't everyone have one unexplained and unnatural fear of something? Mine is anything (and I mean anything) that lives in the water. Be it animal, vegetable, or mineral, if it makes a home without the presence of a gaseous atmosphere, it can send me into hysterics. I think I must have been eaten by a sea monster in a previous life.
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
okay anyone who knows me KNOWS i HATE spiders with a passion! We are talking serious childhood trauma - so painful i've repressed it from my concious mind... *outer limits music plays*
yeah so i understand all about irrational behaviour - and if one more person says "well they're more scared of you than you are of it" Well! you've never seen me come face to face with one of the eight legged monsters that scuttle in the night - ready to pounce, spinning web and just being generally evil!!!
Kris - i was just freaked because they're mythical and it's pretty inlikely you'll ever come face to face with a mermaid! But HEY, what do I know? I'm stood on my chair screaming and pointing at an inch high creature on my carpet!

Character Application
(updated with more info 10-23-02)
Name: Aliceanoko
Nickname: Bunniko or bunny or Alice
Race: Demon
Gender: female
Place a birth: unknown dimension
First appearance Outside the city of Constantinople in the summer of 568AD
Group affiliation:
Description
Aliceanoko’s demon form is the one thing a demon should not be; adorable. She appears as a human sized anthropomorphic rabbit. She has light purple fur and dark purple hair. Aliceanoko’s has arcane symbols dyed “tattoos” in to her fur to enchant her body with strength ,agility, and perception. These symbols are part of her runic magic(see below). Aliceanoko’s appears to be some breed of long ear rabbit. Aliceanoko’s internal organs and skeletal structure are very close to human with some miner changes. Mostly in the skull and spine.
In Alicenoko’s human form she is 5'6" and appears to be of Puerto Rican/Dominican descent .This form was only achievable through long and complex rune research.
Played by Michelle Rodriquez
History:
In her own dimension Alicenoko was the equivalent of general in the army. She lead her clan on many assaults against there enemies. Alicenoko’s people were very warlike and her barbaric. On such a battle Alicenoko found herself for the first time on the losing side and had to retreat to a small cave to hide. There in she fell down a deep shaft. This seemingly endless pit was not a pit at all but a gate to the dimension of Earth
Once on earth the gate quickly closed leaving Alicenoko stranded. Although dizzy from her journey, she quickly tried to access her location. She was outside a walled city (Constantinople) unknown to her. The only living beings around Alicenoko seemed to be two furless men of some unknown race. With a quick wave of one of the mens hands Alicenoko was able to understand the mens words. These men (Victor and Talhu )were demons and hunters of the lesser species of man. They explained that Talhu was trapped here as well and that it was his testing a new tear in this dimension that pulled Alicenoko from her home plain. Alicenoko knowing the price of failure decided to stay and help her new friends Alicenoko spent 50 years as the loyal sidekick to Victor and Talhu learning all she could about the world she lived in now. To hide her demon appearance Victor utilized his glamor magic’s and disguised her as a woman of whatever nationality they visited. After a falling out with Talhu in 621AD Alicenoko took off on her own.
Victors magical glamor faded only a year after she left him. So she was stuck in her bunny/demon form until she was able to learn more about earth’s life. She spent 15 years researching the plant and animal life of earth so she could create new runes to help disguise her appearance. After spending some time in her once respected rabbit form.. She found it didn’t incite the terror in her enemy as it once had. After the creation of Abis no ti min “The rune of new change” Alicenoko spent the next 300 years fighting in any war that would have her and pretty much being a very bad girl.
In 945AD in Chengdu, China Alicenoko came across her first Slayer. After a rather lengthy battle, Alicenoko was able to learn that the slayer track her down with the help of what she called her watcher. Alicenoko retreated from the Slayer only after receiving a nearly fatal wound. After healing Alicenoko found the girls watcher and gave him the same wound she received from the slayer. Although his wound did kill him. The challenge of killing this slayers watcher struck a cord with Alicenoko. She then started hunting members of the Watcher Council only to disappear before their Slayer could find or kill her. Between 945AD and 1203AD Alicenoko killed 31 people connected to the watchers Council. In 1203AD Alicenoko disappeared from the sight of the Watcher Council, until her recent appearance in Los Angeles. Her location in that time is known only to her and a small select group of people
Items:
Alicenoko where’s a black flight suit style jump suit with black utility vest under a light brown London Fog trench coat. When needed she carries 2 thigh holsters for her twin US Socom pistols.
Alicenoko carries a backpack with a changes of cloth, a copy of Alice In Wounderland and an old Usagi Yojimbo graphic novel.
Alicenoko also has a uniquely styled knife which she as enchanted with the rune Abis no ti Joeblet ” The rune of burning tides” which she uses to kill vampires. If plunged in to the heart of a vampire it has the same effect as a wooden stake
Powers
Alicenoko heals at an unnaturally fast rate. Although it is no comparison to Victors regeneration it is about the same rate as a vampire. Even at her high rate of healing Alicenoko can still be killed by sustaining an ample wound to the head or chest.
Alicenoko has supernatural strength, agility ,and perception do to the use of her rune magic. These abilities are compare able to that of vampires Her sense of smell and hearing can out range the most perceptive vampire.
Alicenoko has the ability to create magical symbols that are inscribed, tattooed or painted on flesh, stone or steel . It takes Alicenoko months of research on earths elements and chemicals to create a single rune or tattoo. For tattoos Alicenoko needs to make special inks made from animal and plant life. Other than her body enchantments and the one on her knife Alicenoko has not been able to make a new rune with earths resources
Alicenoko uses a style of combat the avoids the hits of her opponents till she can strike a damaging blow (The Jackie Chan school of avoiding whoopass)

This character was submittedby a friend of mine named John. He'd like to join the game and this is the character he'd like to play. Lets hear some thoughts and things. He can be reached via email at tarnman@comcast.net
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
I would like to hear more about this character. So far, I like the package John has come up with. I would like to see a little more detail. When dealing with demons, for instance, a sense of weakness is desirable. How about these rune powers? Are they limitless? (Great idea, the markings on her body.) How about some hints to this character's personality? What niche will Alice fill in LA, other than being Victor's friend?
On a self-centered level, I'm all for the bunny demon. It's yet another bunny reference, which tickles me to no end. And "Alice in Wonderhell" comes to mind. It's workable. Personally, I could find uses for this character in the future. At least then I won't have cornered the bunny rabbit market.
I like the pic for Alice's human form. Her active profile says a lot about her.
The profile was broken up nicely. It benefited from readability.
My vote is Thumbs Up.
(But I would like to know more.)
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
John has discussed a plotline to fit Alice into the game. However he wants to keep it quiet for right now. Suffice it to say that Alice's role as Victor's friend is minor compared to her actual mission. It is really a sidebar becasue Alice and Victor have not seen each other in over 1000 years. So there will be surprises on both sides of that reunion.
As I understand runic magic (something John has used in other games) the limit is the number of runes she can fit on her body. The powers are activated through complicated rituals and application of tattoos and then cannot be reversed. So Alice's powers will not change much during the game nor will she likely be passing any powers along. (well not without consulting us anyway). The personal enhancements are likely to be the extent of them.
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
I like the character. It seems slightly different to what i've seen.
However i would like to know more about bunny's race, her family, her enemies in her dimension, you know things like that.
I like the idea of Alice having "Rune" powers, a good idea.
I would also give it a thumbs up.
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
Well, you've already had my opinion in private, but for the record I say a definite yes. :)
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
Ok, like the character, but have one question about her rune magic. Namely, are bindrunes permissible? At least in contempory rune magic (in authors such as Edred Thorsson, Kvendulfr Gundarson, and Freya Aswynn), bind runes can be employed. A bind rune, for those who have no idea what I'm talking about, is simply a more complex runic pattern where two or more runes will share a single stroke.
As an example using the Latin alphabet, M and R could form a bindrune MR by sharing the vertical mark.
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
That's a neat concept, bind runes. Adam always teaches me new things.
So, Adam, how is it you're single again? I swear, if you were an LABN character, Brinkley would f**k you and then suck your brains. You'd taste like strawberries.
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
That's easy. I'm a bachelor. And if I'm a bachelor, well then by definition, I can't fail to be single, can I? :)
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
bunnikos rune are more picture then words but thay can share the same lines only to save space. thay should not make a new power

I've decided to make a new character. If you guys like it, and accept it. I'll keep this character, and have Derek as NPC. But, if you guys don't like it, I am gonna stick with Derek, I guess. It's your opinions. What do you think about this character?
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
Andrew,
I very much like the idea of the sinner reclaimed. In writing 'maybe' characters I have come up with ideas along a semi-similar line.
possibly some more details might be nice, as Walter is an intriguing character. However, how exactly did he get super-powers. I may have just missed this, but if he is no longer an evil souless thing, thes is he not normal? I don't know, this is probably just my confusion.
Also, on a personal note (I have nothing against the character, and this is quite irrelivant) I am rather against the idea that music is an evil influence.
Ne hoo, I like what you have so far.
boojy
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
I am kind of confused by this character actually. Plus you haven't even given him a name - unless you intend to use the same name as the actor that is playing him.
Basically, and I don't want to seem negative, I just want to see more - like Hannah said, we need more info. I don't understand this character's motivations at all - or the source of his powers.
Plus, I personally object to rap music being associated with devil worship :?
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
His name is Zack Nole (see the title of the topic)
Here is what I like: A holy warrior reclaimed from darkness
Here is what I want: Why does he have powers? Why was he chosen?
Here is what I don't like:
He's a male slayer...There can be only one and SHE's spoken for
Rap Music = Devil Worship...not.
Lets see a revised profile
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
I also like that Drew picks these off actors to play his characters. A Power Ranger? I gotta admit, that intrigues me deep down.
I'd like a player choose someone other than a beautiful person. We've seen plenty of Nicole Kidman, Heather Ledger, Hugh Jackson, Brittany Daniel, Brendan Fraser...people we wouldn't mind looking like. But it would take guts to play a character who looked like Bob Wedge or Albert Hesch. We sure don't mind making homely NPCs, do we? I'm holding out for the intrepid player who jumps into Gilbert Godfried's shoes. *brrrr*
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
Actually I've seen the Power Rangers on TV they're all pretty good looking - like those Malibu kids, yeah like those guys only they wear skin tight lycra and fight Godzilla type creatures, which apart from the godzila part IS Malibu!
And I'm ashamed to admit I never even looked at the title of the thread - I just click on the 'new post' icon
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
Okay, I revised my character. I feel like I should revise more though... :?
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
Well, I have to say the revision makes it somewhat better. But I'm still hankering after a little more fleshing out. At the moment it's looking like a skeleton only. I know character profiles aren't meant to be definitive (hell, we'd have no reason to tell their story if it was all in the profile), but Zack is still feeling a little two-dimensional.
But, definitely heading on the right track there, Drew. I know a little more about Zack's motivations than is written here from the msn conversations we've had - perhaps it would help for you to add some of that detail into his profile?
PC Submissions & Proposals (Jun 02 - Dec 02)
The revisions are getting there. The "Gift from God" can be something as simple as he will always have the power he needs to combat the evil he faces. Knowing what will trigger it is something else entirely. God is fond of giving us ability without always giving us answers. HE has faith in US to figure it out and do the right thing.
He needs an edge. Something that makes him a little less 2-dimensional. Some sort of darkness or flaw that he has to constantly strive to overcome. Whether it is defending his faith in the face of increasing negativity...or a conflict within his parish or within his family.
Maybe he even has run-ins with the religious right for his teachings. Perhaps he is preaching a new gospel. Perhaps he is just realizing that there is more to a life in Christ than the words and faith. And as he demonstrates theis for others he runs into a lot of opposition.
Heck, perhpas he preaches a discipline of poverty. Tell me that wouldn't rock the pillars of the churches in the area.
He needs some sort of foil. An enemy who most people would not consider an enemy. He needs a friend. Someone who accepts who and what he is without question. Or maybe his enemies and friends are less tangible, after all this is the City of Angels (and Demons).
I am just brainstorming here, you don't have to do any of these things. But there are facets there that could make this character more interesting than "the holy guy."
People with faith are a dime a dozen, but people who do more than HAVE faith, rather they USE it as a tool are rare. Sell it to us Drew. Let us see why this guy is "chosen" don't just tell us he is.
