There has been some talk about doing another time jump. From conversations so far, it seems there are a couple of different posts pre-written for Wednesday, and we've just tipped into Tuesday. So we're looking to skip Thursday game day.
Does anyone have any major problem with or objection to this course? If not, then once Wednesday's posts are done we'll jump right to Friday 19th August.
If there are problems, please make a post in this thread.

Don't be afraid. Its not that big of a deal. We will get everybody on the same page without much trouble. THese time-jumps are neccessary to break the urge to do a minute-to-minute detail of your character's life.
And time must march on...the temptation is to hang back with the rest of the feet draggers, and in fact we need to jump more than a day. But baby steps first.
Sooner or later we are going to do a big leap and jump a couple of days...maybe even a week. So start getting your affairs in order, and prepare for a jarring leap ahead.
I imagine it will prbably take place a week or more after the party. And like all good fiction it does not mean that nothing happens to you, it just means that those events are less significant.
so the timeline for the game will look something like this...

Aug19th 2005

Here's why we skip...
Aug 5 - Aug 7 (2 days) 2002 = Aug 6th 2005
Aug 8 - Aug 14 (8 days) 2002 = Aug 7th 2005
Aug 14 - Aug 19 (5 days) 2002 = Aug 8th 2005
Aug 19 - Aug 20 (1 day) 2002 = Aug 9th 2005 (this was a skip)
Aug 22 & Aug 26 (2 days) 2002 = Aug 10th 2005 (this was a skip too)
Aug 21 - Aug 26 (5 days) 2002 = Aug 11th 2005
Aug 24 - Aug 29 (5 days) 2002 = Aug 12th 2005
Aug 26 - Sep 6 (11days!) 2002 = Aug 13th 2005
Sep 3 - Sep 14th (11 days) 2002 = Aug 14th 2005
Sep 10 - Sep 21 (11 days) 2002 = Aug15th 2005
At this rate the game will end on Aug 24th (99 real games days give or take translated into 9 days of game time)
By throwing in a few skips here and there we move time along. And without some SIGNIFICANT skips it won't ever get anywhere. Especially at a rate of 11 days real time per day of Game.
As a goal I'd like to see the game timeline for season 2 end sometime in October. But unless we can get it down to a day or two of real time for a day of game time that can't happen. Halloween would be particularly significant (but may not be possible).
I understand that the game goes where the game goes. And I am not imposing draconian limits on when you can do your posts. It is just an "eyes up from the keyboard please" to help you set some time goals for your posts that don't flow one minute to the next.
So be brave Sid and Heather. Take heart Adam and Lou. Be of stout heart Robin and Kris. Hang with us Saadia and Amanda. Buckle up Sherl and April. Greg, Alice and Hannah be of good cheer. Neil and Drew, watch and learn.

perhaps we could have bigger skips... instead of jumping ahead only 2 or 3 days per time, we could jump ahead a week? what do u guys think?

April - Dave's already suggested a week, though not straight away. I think we could handle a week, so long as we all knew well in advance so we could tidy up any mini-plots we had running.
For now, I can even see an argument for skipping both Thurs 18th and Fri 19th. We have Tues 16th and Wed 17th to get through, then we could jump right to Saturday 20th - the party is that night.
I don't know about anyone else, but I've got plans to implement immediately after the party. However, I can see us being able to skip another handful of days later in that week after the party.
And as Dave has put forward, by the end of August game time we could probably bring ourselves to jump an entire week. Skipping a week shouldn't be too traumatic. It can be one of those weeks where not much out of the ordinary happens - the characters all maintain more or less the status quo they have established just prior to the jump.

Ok, after the party, the next week or so, I have big plans for Daye. However, once I get through the big break up, (yeah that's right around the corner), I would actually be able to use a week or so skip. I need Friday, though, Alice and I have a collab that night. It's already pretty much done, and it's a dinner party, so I can't move it. Then the party, and plans for Sunday, and then middle of the next week or so, things between Daye and Drew go sour. Then, a skip would be perfect. Daye is going to be off with Ryan anyway, and in game terms, no one should be able to get close to her for that whole first week. So, there's my two cents. Let's please move this along. I was hoping to get to Halloween myself as it would be the best possible time for the big Mariah ritual. Thanks, guys.

Okay, after the posting horror of the party at Bibliophile am I still correct in assuming that we are supposed to be skipping some or all of the following week?
Can someone please confirm what time we will be skipping so that I can start to sort out my various posts/plot lines etc. And we can really get this game moving at an appropriate speed again! :D

Uh, Dave, not to rain on your parade, but I was under the distinct impression we were actually doing up to Tuesday 22nd (possibly even to Wednesday 23rd if necessary) and then skipping an entire week to the following Tuesday or Wednesday.
That's the timeline I've been basing my current set of collaborations/posts on... And I know we've talked about the resolution of my/our section of that, and I don't see it clearing up before Tuesday at the earliest.
Hmm, seems we need to work on our lines of communication - I've been telling people that Tuesday was the date we were working towards... :?

I talked to Adam, who in turn said that he had spoken to both Dave and Heather and that...
We will have Monday game time and skipp Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and pick up the pace again on Friday.
PLEASE, can we just pick a time a stick to it?? I know other people apart from myself have things they want to get going with and it really would be useful to have a timeframe to work around.
Sometimes I think these time warps are more trouble than they're worth... :?

My Monday stuff is pretty much all written - I've just been waiting for others to post any Sunday stuff they may have, but since nothing new has been posted for a couple of days now (since Amanda's post) I'm figuring that everyone else must be waiting for Monday as well.
Just so you know where I'm at, I know there's a little bit that Robin and Dave are collabing on tomorrow which will slot in there, so once that's been written I'll be zapping through Monday at a fair rate of knots.

Question. And this is a what-if question, not that I want to do it right now. But we're aware that a jump to Friday is coming. So Tuesday happens, then *leap*, bang! It's Friday.
What if I needed to do a Wednesday post? Could I just write one and stick it in? Or would you all wave your fingers at me and say, "Bad, Siddy, bad, bad boy!"?

Events that occur on Wednesday or Thursday are related as if the character is on friday. So it is in retrospect, or flashback or referred to in the past tense as if they have already occurred.

Ok I realise we've only just time jumped but I feel if we're ever going to cover more than a few weeks game time we need to get into doing them fairly frequently.
On that basis , I suggest that we jump again at the end of Sunday to either Wednesday or Thursday.
Any objections?
