Things That I Should Know But Don't So I'm Asking
Okay. I'm full of stupid questions. Therefore, I've created this thread so I can ask them. I'm leaving this box of tomatoes by my feet. After answering each question for me, feel free to throw ONE or more of the TEN tomatoes in the box. The more tomatoes you hit me with, the more stupid the question was. I won't get mad, I just need to be enlightened.
For instance:
Question: What does LABN stand for?
Answer: L.A. By Night
Consequence: Eight Tomatoes, aimed for the chest.

Occasionally folks wander in and don't have a clue what to do first. You know from experience its a lot to absorb all at once. So they do things out of order. Sherlynn was one such person.
She applied for board membership without filling out a character profile.
So did Terrix Conny.
I sent him a polite email explaining that he needed a profile first, and if it was accepted then his memberhsip would be approved.
Becasue a member record is created when you apply he shows up on the list. If I have not heard anything from him in about a week, then he will be deleted and Derek will once again be our newest member.

3) I am not Sam Aubrey, correct. I only wish I was as determined as that little creep. There's something to be said for someone who's a failure, yet gives it his best shot. Ed Woood makes my heart sing.

bovril = it's a beef stock... which can be eaten with porridge (gruel for some of you), on bread, in soup... or a million other ways... the aussies have something similar called bonox... ring any bells yet?

*Two thumbs up to Hannah* Right on girl I agree with ya! Marmite is definately MY MATE :D (marketing ploy) Btw - you can also make Bovril into a drink, a beefy drink - but i wouldn't reccomend you do that with Marmite.
And yes I believe Veggiemite is a similar kind of thing - we are talking Yeast extract here, sticky, thick and kind of salty yum...

I had a friend out here who was married to a guy who's whole family was from New Zealand (this story does have a point). Anyway, she was a big fan of Vegemite. I myself think it sounds terrible. I'm not sure why anyone would want to eat a yeast extract. Then again, I'm American and we eat the leftover slop from the slaughterhouse floor stuffed in sausage casings and consider it patriotic. (Ie, "Hot Dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet!")

when i was little my grandad (crazy man that he is) used to tell me stories (he still does, crafty man that he is) and one of his favourite characters was 'Knock'em-Back Nelly'. This was a fairy who was always drunk (coz she knocked back too many) -- this was the stuff I was brought up on.
Just wondering... Sherlynn... Nelly knockoff isnt a realtion of knock'em back nelly is it?

Nope, baby-girl. Not "knock-em-back Nelly" though that name pulls at the edges of my memory. My father, who when he was young traveled the U.S. a lot and met a lot of different people, including a bunch of Aussies et al while in Hawaii in the Navy. For some reason, I seem to remember him telling me something about that. Anyway, it sounds familiar.
Nelly is a rapper-singer originally from St. Louis, Missouri. He's got a crew he calls the St. Lunatics. He's actually pretty good as rappers go -- not my favorite musical style. He's more melodic than most (he sometimes sings his rap) and his rhymes are clever, stylish and funny. His clothing is standard issue roughneck with that hateful do-rag. (A do-rag is a scarf tied around the hair'do'; the term originated back in the 30s when Black people used lye to straighten the hair and would tie a silk scarf/"rag" around it to keep it straight and in place while sleeping.) Nelly, for some reason I've yet to fathom, usually has a small band-aid on his face.
In fashion parlance, a "knockoff" is a cheap imitation of an expensive designer tog.
Hence - the Nelly knockoff.
Here endeth the lesson. No tomatos necessary.

OH that Nelly, as in the one who sings "Its gettin hot in herre" and "Ride wit me". yeah i know of him. I'm not very keen on his music though so I tend to keep away from his stuff.

To answer an unasked question, I heard that Nelly wears the bandage on his face to show support for his brother, one of the original St. Louis Lunatics, who is in prison. Supposedly, he will continue to wear it until he is freed. Not sure if this is the actual reason, but it was in an article about him.
