Name: Aran Camoth
Race: Human
Gender: Male

Light Side/Dark Side Ratio: 10/6

Description: Aran cuts an imposing figure at six-foot-one, two hundred and fifteen pound muscualr frame that can intimidate most. He also has the ability to blend in with a crowd thanks to his mostly unremarkable features of dark brown hair, lightly tan complexion, square jaw and grey eyes. Camoth is street wise and has the ability to hold his own in a tapcafe brawl. As a privateer against the Empire, he knows a good deal when he sees one, and can smell a bad one from a parsec away. He has a great deal of intuition that has saved him more times than he's able to count. He tends to err on the side of caution but knows when to jump right in and play hero boy every once in a while, for a small profit of course. Aran keeps just enough of the credits he earns for operating costs and a little bit extra. He fancies himself to be someone who fights for good, while still getting a good deal out of it.
Homeworld: Corellia
History: Aran never met his birth parents, but his adoptive parents, Rostek and Nejaa Horn were very caring and took him in through an adoption agency at the age of ten. Aran grew up alongside Hal Horn (although he was five years younger), who always dreamed of becoming an officer in CorSec, Corellian Security. Aran was more rebellious than his adoptive brother, and was either getting into trouble or getting Hal into trouble and later getting themselves out of it.

Hal never appreciated the way that his older step brother kept getting him into trouble, which is more than likely the reason for his aspirations of a CorSec officer. Aran always respected his little brother and the two were almost always inseparable, but every once in awhile the two could get into fisticuffs when Hal was becoming a teenager.

One day though when he was 23, Aran became fed up with Hal's complete one sided take on the legality of things. The two argued for hours and Aran stormed out of the house yelling "What's legal these days ain't always right!" Aran soon hit the tapcafes along Treasure Ship Row, where he found work as a privateer under Booster Terrik, whom would become Hal's "nemesis" in his CorSec days. Camoth gained control of an old YT-1300 Corellian Transport, which he has made quite a few modifications to, himself. The Black Krayt is indeed matte black so as to distinguish itself from the Calrissian owned Millennium Falcon, although the two are quite similar operationally.

Since being taken under the wing of Booster, Aran goes about the galaxy privateering for himself and Booster.

Items:
Aran always carries two BlasTech DL-44 Pistols and a BlasTech T-21 Light Repeating Blaster Rifle slung across his back with him, as well as a mysterious pendant around his neck. To get himself out of tough situations, he carries a few thermal detonators around, just in case, he also carries two vibroblades as a last defense. Aran owns a Corellian YT-1300, named the Black Krayt that has a few special modifications to help him in his business endeavors.

Abilities:
Aran keeps his cool under pressure and is very street wise, giving him the ability to avoid as much Imperial involvement as possible. Most of the time Camoth is very introverted and able to observe and analyze a situation well and make good judgments. His ability to pilot a starship is surpassed by very few. He can handle discussions and social situations when he needs to, he is educated in etiquette, but rarely uses that particular portion of his knowledge.

Aran speaks Basic, Huttese, Shyriiwook, Bocce, Bolie, Old Corellian, and Selonian.

Aran is also an expert with most blaster weapons, and is a decent knife fighter.

Camoth’s ability to assess a situation helps him negotiate deals and get out of jambs without a fight, which is what he prefers, and prefers to keep a low profile. Like all Corellians however, he can tend to be cocky at times, but only when there’s not a need for him to lay low. He also has a severe distaste for odds.

Force Powers:
Aran is Force Sensitive, and has the ability to use telekinesis on small to medium sized objects. He’s also able to sense the feelings of those around him, and it also heightens his finely tuned danger sense. Since he never had the chance to work with a Jedi Master, his talents go pretty much untrained except when he’s bored on long missions in the Krayt. He knows that if he’s discovered the Empire will hunt him down, so he only uses his powers when he’s alone or in extreme situations.

Played By:

Player:

Question 1: I'm a little rusty on my Star Wars geneologies, but who is Hal Horn in relation to Corran Horn? I found this in the Star Wars Databank:

Quote:
What Corran didn't know was that he was a descendant of Keiran Halcyon, one of the greatest Corellian Jedi. Nejaa Halcyon, Corran's grandfather, perished in the Clone Wars, but was survived by his son Valin. During the rise of the Empire, the Jedi order was extinguished by agents of the new government, and Valin was kept hidden. Nejaa's widow married a friend of the family, Rostek Horn, and the two renamed their son Hal Horn to protect the infant's identity.

Is this the connection? He is Hal's adopted brother? He has no true Jedi lineage of which he is aware?

Question 2: Booster Terrik. Is he mentioned somewhere, the name is familiar, but I can't find it. Mirax Terrik was Corran Horn's love, is it her father? Uncle?

Question 3: If Lando is flying the Falcon, he must be pretty young...15? 16? Is it someone in his family? Is this prior to its modifications?

Question 4 (the big one) Why is Arak force-sensitive? Does he need to be? He has ties to the extended universe, was the brother to the son of a Jedi and runs around with a famous smuggler. He owns a space ship and has a number of deadly weapons. Forse sensitive seems a bit strong, if you ask me.

I am okay with the "Danger sense" and he might suspect his brother of being a Jedi from hints that mom dropped along the way...and that would be reason enough to be paranoid. but the TK ability seems a little over the top.

Especially since we already have a force-empath and a force-seer. It seems that anyone who can muster enough force to move things with TK would have already been targeted unless they were extraordinarily lucky. Almost all "adventurer" types have the "I have a bad feeling about this" ability, so even the "danger sense" - unless it is more like spider-sense - would be more than you need.

---

Okay having poo-pooed the force abilities, here's a suggestion to keep it...

He has a hidden past. The reason Nejaa adopted him was she recognised his parentage and knew he was another orphaned son of the Jedi Knights. She already had planned to hide her son's identity and hid Aran's as well. Careful not to encourage or teach any of the Jedi ways in her household, Hal and Aran grew up thinking they were normal.

Both of them have "feelings" on which they act instinctively and which served them well in games, and later in life. But they don't know - nor do they suspect - their connection to the Jedi.

Until Nejaa and Rostek die (the particulars need not be nasty...t could be simple disease...or an accident/natural disaster). Hal is busy with his work, and so Aran is called back to handle the particulars and he discovers his mother's diary where she explains (in a letter to both boys) who they are and what their heritage really is.

Aran makes a conscious decision to withold the truth from Hal, suspecting that it might get him killed in his role in CorSec. And so he settles affairs and leaves - taking the damning truth with him. He wonders what it is like to be a Jedi and so he "plays" with the force he (at some instinctual level) knows he can control. But he never ever uses it around others out of fear.

His mother kept their secret very safe, and he intends to keep it safer.

There! One force-sensitive pilot with complete background and plenty of opportunity to get waylayed by the dark side or be apprehended as a Jedi fugitive - or worse - betray his adopted Brother as a Jedi Fugitive.

1: Hal Horn is Corran's dad.

3: Calrissian owned, Falcon's well known, it's fast (mainly I used it as a reference point) and yes, before the smuggling modifications.

4: And yeah, that's along the line of what I intended, Nejaa dies of old age and Rostek continues to live and take up gardening (refer to I, Jedi). And as far as the TK, I can knock it down to like pebbles and some tools, but nothing bigger than a hydrospanner, if that's ok. And Booster is just starting out, he's nothing big right now

Excellent. Looks good, Tyler.

Does this mean that we're ready to begin? :)
