Soulless Zombie's picture

I submitted a character via the application form, however, since then I have made a number of revisions on my proposed character and so I thought I'd post my application here and hopefully avoid any confusion (and hey! I can put some pretty pictures in too! :D )

------------------

Character Name: Sydney King A.K.A Ricochet
Race: Altered Human
Gender: Female
Position: Hero
Group Affiliation: ATP:9 A.K.A The Project (see Enemies)

Description:
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 120lbs
Demeanour: Syd is a straight talking, no-nonsense sort of girl
Attitude: Cynical, Tough and Resourceful
Lifestyle: No fixed address, Syd lives by her wits and seizes opportunities when they arise
Costume: Tight black pants and T-shirt, black boots, oversized army jacket in khaki green and her guns (see Items)

Sydney is 5’7” in height and weighs about 120lbs. She has a curvaceous figure and is toned rather than muscular although it is obvious she is in the peak of physical fitness. Sydney has a lightly tanned complexion, long, poker straight, dark-brown hair, blue-grey eyes and full pouting lips. She usually wears tight black pants and matching T-shirt to allow her to move freely and unobstructed. Sydney is tough and resourceful; there aren’t many situations that she can’t fight or shoot her way out of. She is also incredibly cynical and hard-nosed and doesn’t open herself up to people easily. However, there is a sad and remorseful side of her that she likes to keep hidden.

Sydney is played by Angelina Jolie

Enter Character History below:
Sydney was abandoned at birth and has no memory of her real parents or any life before she was part of the Project. As a baby, Sydney was selected along with twelve other children to be part of a secret government experiment to create the ultimate ‘super-soldier’ to protect America against the growing number of ‘mutants’ and so-called ‘superheroes’ that posed a potential threat to the country’s National Security.

While still a child, Sydney was given an experimental cybernetic implant in her brain that allows her to process and understand information at an increased level compared to ordinary humans. The implant was deemed a success and Sydney’s formative years were spent memorising battle strategies and combat techniques.

As Sydney grew she became a deadly soldier. At the age of 19 she was well instructed in several modes of combat including kickboxing and various martial arts, not to mention weapons training. Sydney excelled in the use of automatic handguns, proving to have both a steady hand and an almost perfect aim (earning herself the moniker ‘Ricochet’). Despite the rigorous and unforgiving training, Sydney responded well, growing evermore accurate and resourceful.

At the age of 21 Sydney began to have problems with her neural implant, she suffered data overload and experienced several severe seizures. Most of the other subjects also displayed similar problems with their implants and the malfunction was thought to be caused by the growth of the subjects since the initial implantation.

The project co-ordinator, Avery Wyatt (see Enemies) conducted experimental surgery on the subjects in order to correct the malfunction. The surgery was unsuccessful in most cases and 8 out of the initial 12 subject died instantly. Finally, Avery decided to control the effects of the seizures using a neural inhibitor that would neutralise the synaptic impulses of the brain. The drugs appeared to work and the remaining 4 soldiers returned to their ‘normal’ duties.

However, Sydney was not the same person since the malfunction of her implant. She began to question her origins, she wanted to know about her parents and where she was born and how she came to be part of The Project. She began to question the veracity of The Project’s aims and exhibited compassionate behaviour towards her fellow soldiers. For the first time in her life she began to experience emotion. For the first time she felt guilt about indiscriminately murdering whoever she was ordered to kill. She confided in her mentor Avery but he was reluctant to interfere with the implant further. And although the Project’s instructors complained that they were unable to control Sydney’s behaviour which had begun to display rebellious tendencies Avery refused to comply with their requests to terminate her.

Despite Avery’s attempts to spare Sydney, he was unable to convince the committee that she was not a threat. In a last attempt to save a girl he thought of as a daughter, Avery helped Sydney escape the compound. He gave her some money, weapons and for the first time in her life, sent her out into the world.

The best heroes have arch-enemies. Who is this character's nemesis? (provide a few details please): *

Name: Avery Wyatt; ATP:9 Head of Operations A.K.A ‘The Father’

Avery is an ageing man and the founder of ATP:9. Many years ago his wife was killed by a mutant and ever since he has vowed to protect other innocent Americans from the increasing scourge of ‘super humans.’ Avery personally oversaw the experiments that took place and saw himself as ‘father’ to a new race of humanity. He therefore formed a close bond with each child that was brought into the project. He was particularly fond of Sydney and became something of a mentor to her, treating her almost like a daughter.

Name: Alexander Wyatt; ATP:9 Assistant Head of Operations

Alexander is the true biological son to Avery Wyatt and also his assistant in the ATP:9 Project. Because of his father’s attachment to Sydney, Alex and she were raised almost as brother and sister. However, Alex always treated her like she was a machine and was jealous of her relationship with his father. He saw his father grow soft in his old age, while Alex grew colder and more removed from humanity. Alex shared his father’s xenophobic attitude towards mutants but his hatred also extended to the subjects of their experiments. When Sydney escaped he vowed to track her down and kill her.

Powers: He is physically strong for an average human and highly trained in the art of combat. Alex is very cunning and calculating and has almost unlimited resources at his disposal.

WHAT IS THIS STRANGE GOVERNMENT PROJECT CALLED ATP:9????

ATP:9 - It basically stands for Assassin Training Program. Sydney's training compound near Chicago was number nine in a series of 13 such programs that employed different kinds of experimental training methods to 'create' the perfect assassin. ATP:9 was considered the most successful in their endeavours.

The Project (another name for ATP:9) was licensed by the NSA with the specific aim of creating a race of 'super-soldiers' who were agile, accurate, deadly and emotionally detached in order to maintain the national security of the country against the rise of ‘super-humans’.

The project focused on the use of cybernetic implants that would increase the subject’s ability to process and understand data. Other experimental techniques involved the use of a range of re-programming techniques such as subliminal messaging and mind manipulation combined with training in covert operations and combat skills. More unsuccessful projects involved the use of cyborg technology and genetic engineering.

Enter Characters Powers with description below:
Cybernetic Implants –
Sydney has a cybernetic implant connected directly into the neural pathways of her brain. The implant allows Sydney to process and understand information at a more complex level than ordinary humans. However, the implant is prone to overloading, when this happens Sydney is struck with a violent seizure and all motor-neurone capabilities become disabled for a short period.

(I'm still working out the intricacies of this 'power' and BTW I know jack about neural implants so if you have additional info I could use please TELL ME! :D)

Combat Skills -
Sydney has been trained extensively in the field of Martial Arts such as Kung Foo, Karate, Akido, Judo and Tae Kwon Do. She is also familiar with other types of combat such as KickBoxing and Street Fighting. Sydney isn't afraid to fight dirty if it means she will win. She is stronger than she appears and although she doesn't possess any supernatural strength she is a worthy opponent being that she is agile, swift and precise.

Stunt: Sydney could easily fight most regular human beings without too much trouble. Superhuman’s or other supernatural creatures that have abnormal strength would pose a serious problem for her to fight against.

Weapons Expertise -
Sydney has been trained in the usage of several weapons but her speciality is the automatic handgun with which she is both skilful and efficient. Sydney has a steady hand and almost perfect aim, so long as her target is in range.

Stunt: Sydney's talent is limited by her human abilities, therefore so long as her target is in view and she had a clear shot it is *more than likely* that she would hit her mark.

Sydney always carries a set of Desert Eagle .44 Magnum pistols in black finish with specially calibrated grips and sights for Sydney’s own personal use.

The pistols are attached to strap on leg holsters that are neatly concealed beneath her coat. She also carries a couple of extra magazine clips.

We want to know the player too. Tell us about yourself (Other games you've played, age, job, etc.):
I'm a 22 year old girl from Merry Ol' England. My name is Louisa and I play Kate on LABN and Adriana on MYTHIC SCROLLS. I've been roleplaying using the LABN format for over a year now and as you can tell from my obsessive posting in THAT game I am a very reliable and motivated gameplayer (Ooh this is sounding like a sales pitch! hehehe)

I don't read comics but I'm a big fan of the comic MOVIE/TV genre such as the Batman franchise (Riddler kicks ass!), Smallville, The New Adventures of Superman (no nothing to do with the gorgeous hunks, HONEST!) X-Men (of course) The Flash (Oh my age is showing!) Spiderman (the only arachnid I can cope with, without trapping under a glass and screaming) oh and I'm sure there are loads of others!

Pick me Nigel!! :D Hope you like the character, catch you later :D

I have decided to add to Sydney's power base (which, if you've already read my write up for ATP:9 you'll probably have an idea of). Basically, since Syd was designed to take on super-heroes and mutants I think it is more believable that she is physically able to do so. These are the powers I was thinking of adding, if there are any objections please leave a note below.

(All 'powers' and abilities are a result of neural implants and sensory augmentation - see Groups - ATP:9 for more info)

- Hypersensitive hearing (35-40% greater than normal humans)
- Superior mental processing skills and memory (Syd is programmed to assess her opponant's moves and anticipate future attacks)
- Decreased sensitivity to pain (Syd is capable of being hurt but is less affected by pain and as a result will continue to fight despite heavy injury)
- Decreased need for sleep. (Syd has high levels of serotonin in her body which means that she can function with a minimum of 4 hours sleep in 24 hours)

Syd is still prone to seizures as a result of increased serotonin levels in her brain. Seizures can occur at any time and without warning but especially when Syd has had little sleep or limited access to a neurotransmitter such as Tryptophan (a primary protein also found in milk)

Most of the info on these abilities can be found in my write up on ATP:9 but I'll also be adding a more detailed write-up in Syd's profile
