charname: Wraithe (Subject WK-089)
race: Enhanced Human
gender: Male
group: None
position: VILLAIN
descript: Age: 24
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 250 lbs
Physical Description: Blonde hair, grey eyes that reflect green at night, tall
and muscular build, hair is usually kept cropped close to his head, unusually
pale skin (not quite Albino, but close), and six fingers on his left hand. He
has several tattoos: a faded black one on the inside of his right arm that says
"WK-089" on it, and a series of Native American style wolf tattooes on his
shoulders and back.
Demeanor: He is very quiet, and from looking at him you would get that
distinct and uneasy impression you would get from running face to face into a
mountain lion or a wolf in the woods.
Attitude: Generally very cold and ruthless. He has no regard to life at all,
arguably except for his own since he has a massive survival instinct, and has
absolutely no qualms about killing for any reason or in any method whatsoever.
He hardly ever speaks, and even his movements rarely make noise. He seems to
work in more chaotic fashion though, killing rather indescriminantly. However,
on very very rare occaisions, he has been known to fly into an insane rage.
This usually takes place when confronted with a member, family member, or friend
of a member of the project that spawned him. He hates all of the project
members with a passion, but one, and his one great goal in life is to
exterminate them all in the most painful ways possible. To date, he has killed
6 of them, but still has many more to go. He would particularly like to get his
hands on his main handler, a Colonel Wilhelm Krausa. The one member of the
research group that Wraithe doesn't wish to kill was a woman who had the job of
bringing him through his infancy and she was the only one who ever treated him
like he was an actual person, so if he were asked if he loved anyone, he would
say that she would be the only one who came close. Wraithe doesn't seem to be
able to stop himself from killing, because of the random nature of his other
kills. He is almost like an addict in that respect, and he doesn't really know
why he does it other than he has to do it. He has a vague dislike for most
normal humans and these tend to make up most of his targets.
Lifestyle: Wraithe doesn't really have wealth, nor does he want it. He has
two or three make-shift residences, his main base of operations being an
abandoned bomb shelter that he's made some improvements to, and alternates
between all of them so that its hard to find him sleeping in the same place two
nights in a row. Food he usually steals or forages, and usually eats fairly
well.
Costume: Normally you would find him in various military outfit, but most
commonly in a pair of woodland camoflauge fatigue pants, a black tee-shirt, and
combat boots. He has collected several sets of "civies" though, and when he
wants to blend in to the urban environment, you would normally see him in a pair
of black cargo pants, black t-shirt, his boots, a black leather surcoat, and
reflective sunglasses.
Special Effects: Eyes reflect green when having a light shone on them at
night.

history: Before you got your powers: Most of his enhancements he was born
with. But it must be noted that up until his training began in earnest, he was
much the same as any other child in temperment. He was christened "Wraithe"
because it was hoped that he would be as silent as one and as deadly. He was
cared for by a middle-aged female scientist at the facility that had volunteered
to take on caring for his early mental and language development. Wraithe never
called her "mother", because he wasn't allowed to and he knew she wasn't, but he
still regarded her as such. When he was 6 years old, he was taken away for his
"training" to begin.
How you got your powers: Wraith was the product of an early attempt of
the Soviet government at genetic modification. The project specifically was a
military-run attempt to create the "perfect soldier". How they planned to
accomplish this was by taking a complete DNA sample from a soldier that was
already considered the best of the best and then splice into the code
appropriote traits from several predetory animal species that had been isolated.
Wraithe was one of a batch of 200 of these babies that were created, but he was
among the only three that survived gestation and birth, along with a another
male and a female. He doesn't know what happened to his two "siblings", but he
was told once by Col. Krausa that they were deemed unfit for the project because
they were both monstrously deformed. At the age of 6, Reich was taken away
from the woman that had cared for him in his early childhood and moved into the
research institute full-time. Here his physical development was taken care of
as well as combat training. However, Col. Krausa knew that to really make him
perfect, Wraithe's mind had to be molded as well. The method used to "mold his
mind" would have killed any lesser child. Wraithe was kept in complete
isolation for long periods of time, as well as in complete sensory deprivation
in some instances. He was also subject to hypnotic suggestion, as well as being
beaten severly much during the remainder of his childhood. The result was to
make him cold, silent, and almost completely devoid of every emotion but hate
and rage.

After you got your powers:
After the fall of the Soviet Union, it was decided to continue the project
on tentative grounds while it was being looked into. Four years later, after
discovering the horrific methodology and products of the project, it was firmly
closed down and Wraithe, now 14, was shipping off to an institution for
disturbed children to see if he could be acclimated to normal society.
Realizing that his only hope of getting out depended on cooperating, Wraithe
played along and tried to imitate what the psychologists were telling him to do.
At the age of 16, he was released as a great success story and promptly
disappeared. For the last 8 years, he has been wandering around, hunting down
the people from the project that made him, and leaving a large trail of bodies
in his wake. He has had close calls at being caught, but has always managed to
give the slip. He doesn't know why he does the things that he does, just that
he feels compelled to do so and can't think of a reason not to.
enemy: villain Name:
Powers:
Why is this person your enemy?:

powers: Enhanced Physical Strength: This is partially from the military
training he recieved and partially from genetic enhancements that allow him to
build muscle mass at an accelerated rate.
Stunt: He can lift roughly three times his own body weight and has about the
same level in most of his muscle groups.
Limits: This puts severe strain on his body and can weaken his other powers
if applied too often.

Enhanced Vision: Better than normal eye sight. This is a geneticly enhanced
quality, and is also responsible for his eye-glow at night (which was an
accidental trait).
Stunt: He can see for much greater distances and in much sharper detail
than a normal human.
Stunt: He has night vision on par with most nocturnal animals.
Weakness: He often suffers from bad headaches because of the dichotomy of
being able to see both at night and in the light. It's simply too much for his
brain to deal with sometimes.

Enhanced Speed: A partial natural ability inherited from the soldier his human
DNA was cloned from, and also a genetic modification.
Stunt: He can run up to 65 miles an hour for short periods of time before
he exhausts himself.
Stunt: He has more stamina than a normal human and can run at normal pace
for several days straight before having to rest.
Limit: He has to be decently rested and have eaten fairly well beforehand.
Weakness: Using these gifts cancels out his ability to go without sleep and
also burns so many calories that he has to have a large meal to replace them
soon afterwards.

Sleeplessness: A decrease in the amount of sleep he needs to survive and an
increase in the amount of time he can go without sleeping.
Stunt: He can go for a week before he is forced to sleep, and then he has
to sleep for at least 12 hours to recover himself.
Stunt: For normal exertion, he can get away with only a couple hours of
sleep a night.

Enhanced Immune System and Healing: His body heals itself as twice the rate
of a normal human and he is only very very rarely ill.
Weakness: His heal rate is a product of his high metabolism and that
creates a whole new range of problems described later on under Weaknesses.

Minor Gifts: Wraithe is considered above average intelligence. He was not
alterred in any way to be intelligent and actually, it would have been preferred
if he had not been an as intelligent as he is. He is not a genius or anything
approaching, but as IQs go he scores about a 180. Wraithe for some reason has
an intense empathy for wild animals, particularly wolves. His own opinion on
the matter is that it's because of all the animal genes he was given. He seems
to almost be able to communicate with them and they seem to be the one thing
other than revenge that he can get passionate about, especially if he thinks
they're being harmed in any way by humans.

Weaknesses: Wraithe has an extremely high rate of metabolism because his body
has to spend so many calories per day to accomodate his size and his particular
powers. He has to eat at least 5 or 6 meals a day. His body, however, tends
to reject vegitables, so his diet pretty much has to consist of meat, bread and
potatoes, and such like. He can go one or two days without food before his body
runs out of energy reserves and begins to cannibalize itself and he will starve
to death in about half the time a normal human would. He can reduce his
metabolism by not exerting himself more than he has to, but he still has to eat
quite a lot. In once instance, he was injured badly after killing a hunter in
the woods, he could not get around to find food for himself so he was forced to
cannibalize his victim until he had healed enough to get about.
Also, it is thought that Wraithe's lifespan will probably only be about 40 years
at the most. While the scientists manage to produce him nearly up to their
original specs, they didn't take into account to instense stress that his
metabolism and powers put on the human body and it is likely that unless
something can be done soon, Wraithe's body will eventually either just wear
itself out or destabalize on a molecular level.
Wraite's mental state can also be considered a weakness. He can't understand
his fellow humans and he doesn't really want to. He hardly even considers
himself of the same species. He could also be considered mildly sociopathic,
because although he despises people he has a strange ability to attract them to
him at the same time. Also the fact that his mood can go from "cold fish" to
absolute maniacle rage at the very mention of someone he remembers from his
childhood.
items: Own: By now quite a collection of military gear and clothing, as well
as several pairs of civilian clothes, which he keeps stashed around at his
lairs. Also, he keeps a battered and odd sort of "scrapbook" with newspaper
clippings, photographs, drawings, and miscellaneous other items that don't seem
to fit into any order whatsoever.
Always carry: He always carries a knife on him. He has several, but his
favorite is a 6-inch carbon steel double-bladed dagger he made himself, curved
at a slight angle a bit like a Gurkha dagger, with serrations along the outside,
and a clean sharp edge along the inside.
Weapons: He has a good collection of knives. Some he made himself, others he
picked up in various places. Most are made of steel, but a few are made from
flint or obsidian. He also has one handgun, an ancient Tokarev TT-33 with a
silencer.

Looks like a very interesting if two-dimensional character. "mildly sociopathic" is clearly an understatement.

I foresee this character running out of steam in short order. Who is it's heroic foil?

What is it with the trans-gendering on this board? All the ladies play guys and men playing women...hm...just an observation.

I think its pretty good. Not to mention we need a few more villains.

But like Dave said, the only thing im wondering is who is his nemisis?

Overall I think Wraithe is pretty well-balanced. I especially love the idea of the 'burn-out' metabolism. Though definitely the term "mildly" does not belong next to the word "sociopathic" in this case. I'd go more for "extremely". :)

And Dave has raised a good point - I would imagine that such an enormous string of deaths in the former Soviet Union wouldn't go unnoticed. Is there a particular "superhero" who's following the trail of bodies and trying to stop the perpetrator? Are the members of the team that designed Wraithe and are now being hunted by him starting to put the pieces together? If I'd been involved in that research project and I kept hearing on the news that various other members are turning up dead, I'd be doing something about it.

At the very least I'd expect the local police force to have significant resources and personality profilers working on what would seem to be a serial killer. I know the murders have been described as 'random', so some may argue that nobody realises it's a serial killer, but despite the mentioned randomness of his 'non-quest' kills, murders performed by the same individual would still have some sort of pattern to them - homicide detecitves generally aren't stupid. It may take them a few kills, but sooner or later they'd work out it's the work of one person.

However, all up I give this one the thumbs up. Some hint of a nemesis would be nice, though. (I know I can't talk too much - Athela's enemy was covered by one line... but at least I had something in mind and did make that mention. :) )

I dunno. On one hand, it looks to be a well-thought out character (apart from the aforementioned (yay, first time I've used that word :)) nemisis stuff). But on the other hand, there's a few bits that are kinda similar to Culexes (can't understand emotion, the cold attitude most particularirly

Quote:
make him cold, silent, and almost completely devoid of every emotion
(ok, so admittedly it then goes on to say but hate and rage), not wanting physical possessions like wealth, hypnotic suggestion and indoctrination the increased speed and strength, and the meltdown, like Culexes going without the drugs) Still, there is enough to make it different from Culexes and indivual but like I said; I dunno. Hehehe...I'm a real help aren't I? :p But I guess I'd say yeah, as the above is just me being possessional lol and otherwise there's no reason to say no.

Btw, I suppose I should ask, has this character been accepted already? It's just that I didn't see any poll option at the top (could be cos I'm a newbie heh ;)).

I think Shaun just got slack, Matt. :D

Yeah, he hasn't put up a poll for the last few... of course Matt's was excepted right off the bat so there wasn't any need...

Anyway, I like the character, I'm just a little worried... this isn't really the players fault, as she hasn't been around, but it seems as if a lot of the characters are getting to be a little similar, as Matt suggested. I think some variety is needed...

But, as I said, that isn't the players fault and I do like her character. Yes, he may run out of steam... but she could add a heroic character to the story since there isn't one right now. After all, not all heroes had supervillains right off and not all villains fought super heroes right off, so with a good sense of story I think it could be done right.

So unless anyone has anything else to say, I say we allow the character in. Anyone have any final comments before?

Nope  , like it's been said; it's not her fault she doesn't know about the other characters.
