Mythic - Groups, Organisations & Factions

I wasn't quite sure where this fit in, somehow it didn't seem in the same thread as the Gods of Mount Olympus although it could probably fit there too. But for now I'm opening a new thread for those gods/demonic forces etc that seem to be part of an external or removed group, organisation or faction.

The Furies

The Furies – Goddesses of Justice

The Furies, are a group of three goddesses - Tisiphone (Avenger of Blood), Alecto (The Implacable) and Magaera (The Jealous One). They are merciless goddesses of vengeance who punish the guilty by driving them insane until either the afflicted has brought justice to the land or died from insanity.

In the Xenaverse the Furies are usually summoned by another god against a mortal who has committed a ‘crime’. The Furies are easily manipulated and are generally used by the other Gods as a tool to force a mortal to commit a further crime (placing them in a sort of ‘Catch 22’ situation) – the act of ‘justice’ will release them from their torment only to make them guilty of another crime.

The only way to escape the curse of the Furies is to either carry out the task that they have enforced, or to annul the accusers claim to guilt.

The Fates

The Fates

The ancient Greeks believed there were three Fates, Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos, who arbitrarily controlled the birth, life and death of everyone. In the Xenaverse they are often referred to as 'The Maiden, The Mother and The Crone' – each representing a new phase of life. Together, The Fates spin the thread of life, deciding the fate of everybody, when they cut the thread you die and death comes to take you to the Underworld.

In Mythology they were often called 'The Cruel Fates' because they pay no regard to anyone's wishes, they are generally impassive and detached from mortals. However they wield great power (the power of life and death) and are also capable of re-writing history.
