If a thread is idle for more than a certain number of days, then it is deleted. The whole thread is gone. If you want to keep a thread around just keep posting to it.
If you put a request to archive a thread that has important relevant information in it (preferably game related, but I don't mind archiving other stuff) I'll move it as soon as I can. I tried to make sure that the culling date is reasonably long (30 days+) and it only checks dates a few times a month (usually 15 days).

What does "Self-Cleaning Topic" mean?
Plus, it's COMPLETELY potty trained, doesn't smell, and showers everyday of it's own free will! :P
What does "Self-Cleaning Topic" mean?
Remember my earlier warning about turning everything into the WAG? {Reaches for the rolled up newspaper}
What does "Self-Cleaning Topic" mean?

What does "Self-Cleaning Topic" mean?
Dave, do you store past information else where, like on a CD or backup, as i know this board is backed up many times after the "purge", and if so does it mean that if anything gets deleted from the board it just gone, poof, no more, bye bye....etc....
What does "Self-Cleaning Topic" mean?
I keep a current "weekly" backup of the board. So if anything disappears that you really wanted to keep I can likely recover it if you get to me quickly. Anything that moves to the Archive is permanant.
However, the board is growing and it is filling up with a lot of irrelevant crap that there is no real need to keep. I just seperated the highest chatter public boards into two groups...archived and temporary so that the majority of the crap goes away.
And yes it goes away completely. Unrecoverable.

ok, i'm being a pest with the questions but does that mean all that is ever moved to the archive is never deleted? cuz a while ago i was looking for something and i was sure it was in the archives where i'd seen it before but it was no longer there...
