Ok Im trying to decide between 2 sets of Rank Images a Red set and a Gold set. And since you guys use the site as well Im going to give you guys a say in this.
Note: The only Template that will be reciveing Support and changes will the RedBlack so If your useing subsilver these Images might look like crap (sorry).

Timeline colours
Just to make life a little easier for those checking the timeline, I'll be colour-coding the characters' names. For those of you who care about such things, if you have a prefernce for colour please post a reply stating 3 choices.
I'll try to give people their first choice, but in the event of a clash priority will go to those who have posted first.
EG..
Tash
1 green
2 teal
3 olive
Npc's will retain their black - so I'm afraid that's not a choice for characters. In addition to the colours listed on the board, there's purple (#800080), teal (#008080) and grey (#999999).

So that only leaves the newbies and of course Hannah who switched to Mantheana to chose their colours. You're not allowed the same colour as another character and NPC's are left black

Thanks, Lou. What with being on holiday and all, I've been very slack in my duties on the board. I'm ashamed to say I haven't even edited any of the mid-season posts for spelling or grammar yet... :oops:
Still, once I'm properly back on deck I'll be making sure to do that as well as to set up the new Season Two timeline (complete with the colours picked by the new players). Egads! Season Two is only a couple of weeks away now. 8O

Hehe, doing the colours is such a bitch, isn't it? But it's worth it. I remember deciding to do colours after we already had about 15 pages of posts up - so I had to go back and do them all.
Then, of course, at about page 20 I got the bright idea to add the page and post number references. :roll: Sheesh!! But again, well worth it. :)
Don't worry, you won't be stuck doing the timeline for much longer. Only three more days and I'm leaving the US :cry:, then a couple more to travel home (and probably one or two at home to recover....). So certainly by the start of Season Two I'll have my end under control again.

NPC's will be Black so that option is unavailable - and no two characters can have the same colour code.

It don't matter to me. I'm easy, which held me in none too good stead in high school. But I digress.

Sherlynn, what this refers to is simply the colour that your character's name shows up as in the timeline.
For example, whenever Daye is mentioned, her name is orange. Kate is blue and so forth.
So if, for example, you chose violet, the timeline that would relate to you would show up as:
Parasol did blah blah blah.
We find that this helps greatly when scrolling through the timeline looking for a particular post. With coloured names, you find they jump out at you, making posts relating to your character easier to find.
Also, when I do the timeline (not sure if Louisa's been following this protocol or not for the midseason timeline) I always put the name of the person who made the post as the first name in the timeline description. So if you know you made a particular post and want to find it, you only have to look at the first word in each timeline description for your colour and name.
Sorry, this has turned out to be a long-winded explanation for a fairly straightforward question, but then again I'm a long-winded kind of woman. :)

I must say, I love your character and your writing. No more, of course, than I love the other characters/writing here at LABN. Great group of souls and soulless. I find it interesting the character you choose to write for. I'll talk with you about that sometime on this WONDERFUL MSN messenger thingy. Who knew that was around...I love it.

When did we get a FAQ?
Uh just now. I suddenly was struck that the idea behind Jeffrey's "Tomatoes" post wasn't as looney as it looked at first.
So post into the FAQ the stuff you found worked, didn't work, you found confusing (and needed explained), where to go first, and how you got there.
I'll be doing the same, but what is intuitive to me isn't always to other people.
So for the sake of consistancy, make the Subject of each topic the question you are answering...
"How do I sign up for LABN?"
"I only see 5 forums where is CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS forum?"
"How can I change my avatar?"
"Can I upload my avatar?"
"It says I am a Toady. What does that mean?"
The questions will eventually be gathered into a true FAQ for new players.
And if you have a question but DON'T know the answer to it...just post the question, I'll come behind you and take care of the answers.
And Thanks Jeffery...underneath all of that gooffy exterior is a goofy (but generally astute) interior.

I think FAQ is a great idea. It would have helped me a lot when I first came to this site. Maybe HOW DO COLLABS WORK? would be nice, in addition to supportive comments on what to expect from this community.

My Apologies for Down Time
Due to circumstances beyond my control Heavy Hammer (who provides our hosting) had to change the ip address of its server. THis has meant some down time for some of you.
Not a lot, but it had to happen. I should have warned you, I knew it was going to happen, but not when, so I didn't think to say anything until it was too late.
Again I'm sorry about that. But on the plus side, everything has come through okay
The theme is themes
Okay, If you don't know what "Themes" are then no big deal. If you use a theme, which one do you use?
Why do I ask? Well, this last modification (the color bar) was painful because I had to make it 12 times...once for each theme we have on LABN.
Anyone with an eye for design is free to do a screenshot (alt-PrtSc) and paste it into your photo editor of choice and color your own. If It looks good then I may set about creating a just-for-LABN theme. In the meantime I think I am going to settle for simple themes...
so Pick a theme you use.
Right now I am planning to keep:

subGreen
subSilver
subTeal
the others are pretty much filler unless someone is actually using them.

It won't be of much surprise to people to know that I change my theme as often as I change my avatars! I like change it keeps things fresh and gives the forum page a whole new feel.
I voted for DesertStorm, probably because it's the only theme missing from Dave's list. It's a nice theme, very mellow and calming. I probably use it as much as SubRed, SubGreen and SubSilver - SubTeal is so much like the green theme that I don't see the reason to have both.
Except Heather won't agree with me there, since she's a green fan(atic) :D
I also use some of the 'darker' themes, the best I've found out of the one's available being 'DarkEQ' - it looks really good and shows off the text really well on the dark blue background, only it doesn't have the LABN logo in the top corner, and I miss that... :(
