descript: Aron is a wiry, angular man, not quite six foot tall. Because he eats as little human food as possible, he tends to gauntness most of the time. He is exceedingly pale with brown hair cut short, near the skull, and brown eyes.

history: Born and presumably abandoned in Amsterdam in 1921, Aron is believed to be of Jewish descent, though his actual parentage is unknown. Rescued from a discarded hay wain by Peter Voorhes, he was raised as a member of a moderately prestigious dutch trading family. As the privations of post-World War I Europe caused the family's fortune to dwindle, they became increasingly involved in illicit trade to make up the shortfall.

By 1938, Aron was living alone in Marseilles, facilitating the opium trade for his family and enjoying many of the illicit pleasures that city could provide. While fastidious about his work, he was rather fond of drinking, gambling, and whoring. And, while such pasttimes might kill a normal man, Aron was able to hold his drink and calculate odds well enough that he seemed to live a charmed life. And, rather than being his downfall, whoring turned out to be the catalyst for his unlikely survival.

Being a young man, still in his teens, Aron fell in love with a French prostitute named Chantale. Chantale also caught the eye of a much older man, the Baron Aguerre d'Acquitaine. The baron, being a vampire of some five centuries, was so enamored of Chantale that he contrived to make her into one of the undead as well.

After her ascendancy to vampirism, Chantale took up residence in the home of the Baron, leaving the brothel at which she worked. Aron went looking for her. But, before he could find her, the Germans had begun their blitzkrieg agro France. The attack on Marseilles destroyed the brothel and exposed the baron's sleeping form to sunlight.

With her lover and benefactor dissolving into flames, her home ruined, and no old home to go back to, Chantale sought refuge with the only other man who had ever shown her kindness. Aron, who did not expect to be able to practice his trade under the Nazis was already packing to flee. He took her with him.

As they traveled, it became impossible for Chantale to hide her condition from Aron, particularly when they got too far away from civilization for her to feed regularly. He offered himself to her, fully expecting to die. Instead, she drank from him only what she needed until she was able to feed again, at which time she would give her own vampiric blood back to him.

After many narrow escapes, they made their way from Marseilles to a small village in Finland. The next three years of the war they spent, living quietly in a state of near-idyll. While Chantale was clearly his master, Aron also considered her his lover. Once the war was over, they planned to move further south, to more populous towns where there would be enough of a "herd" to feed two vampires and then she would make him.

But, before they were ready to move, the Baron's ancient rival, a Russian vampire named Piotr found them. The baron and Piotr had been at war with each other, using their own vampiric offspring to fight each other. With the baron gone, Piotr vowed to destroy all of his offspring and end the war once and for all.

Ignoring her pleas that she knew nothing of any war or of the Russian vampire, Piotr tore Chantale limb from limb. Aron tried to stop him, but got nothing but a mild concussion and a shattered ankle for his troubles. Considering Aron beneath contempt, Piotr left him alive. Despondant, Aron began to travel around Europe, trying to find vampires who would let him serve, would let him feed, and would feed off of him as well. He knew that he would probably end up a meal soon, but he didn't much care. He hardly ever ate, food or blood, and began to grow gaunt and pale.

The only thing that kept him alive was the desire to kill Piotr and his spawn, avenging Chantale. He would probably never have a shot at this goal if he hadn't found the Stake of An-ha'arah, an ancient artifact that, when driven into the heart of a vampire, dose not kill it immediately, rather immobilizing it. When it is pulled out of the chest, the vampire disintingates into dust.

Since then, he has become an itinerant vampire hunter of sorts. He is always seeking out newly-made ones to which he can bond. He will often slay those he finds who revel too much in their own evil, sometimes feeding from them, sometimes not. Those who can trace their lineage back to Piotr, he kills on sight, unless doing so would put him at grave risk. He does not feed from these unless he is at a time of deep need and always does so with a deep sense of self-recrimination.

This year, Aron has discovered the Piotr is now in Los Angeles, so he has followed him there. In Los Angeles, he has attatched himself to Rifkeh Zylbershlag, a freshly-made (about a decade or so ago) member of The Cult of Fascion.

Aron has a number of quirks. He ages only when he can not get a regular supply of vampire blood and now appears to be in his mid-to-late 30s. He hates to eat human food and does so as infrequently as possibly, believing (incorrectly) that it causes him to age. When seeking a master, he will always prefer a female one, since he makes very little distinction between feeding and sex. Because the stake does not provide a means for feeding, he is forced to carry around any number of precision cutting tools for getting through thick vampire skin to a vein. Seeing him at work can put even other hunters off of their feed.

Because he has fed off of so many vampires for so many years, Aron is either picking up some of their sun-weakness or suffering from psychosomatic heliophobia. His addiction both to feeding and being fed upon is so great that he has often encouraged too many vampires to feel off of him or one to feed more than he can handle and, on two occasions, been rendered near death by the experience.
