This guy emailled me before sending his character asking is there was a size limit. I liked that.
Here's what i like about Dante
...he has something he can't keep (the stake).
...he was actually arrested and jailed for the murder of his girlfirend (not the usual "vampires ate my baby" background).
...He has been drawn to LA (much like the rest of us)
...He's human. Not superhuman. And he has a style I like.
Lets here your views so I can let this gent know if he's in or not. (definately leaning towards IN)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
charname: Kieran Harte
race: Human
gender: Male
bdate: 05/12/1978; Belfast, Northern Ireland
group: None
descript: Kieran is 5'8" and has short, light-colored hair. His smile is endearing to women and his perfectly oval gray-blue eyes add a mysterious allure to his persona. Although he is an amicable and polite individual and blends in easily in any social gathering, Kieran has a darker, melancholic and violent side that inevitably causes him to be alone. His athletic build is usually dressed in clothes (Prada and Hugo Boss, of course) that are any shade of gray and sometimes black.
history: ***The Early Years: From Boy to Man***
Kieran was raised in a large, tightly-knit family on the rural landscape of Northern Ireland. The Harte family were strongly devoted to the Catholic Church and thus instilled values (some of which were strict) into their children. The Harte women were thankful to the Church that none of the Harte boys took the path of the IRA as the children grew up in the Catholic-Protestant conflict backdrop. In an act of their faith, the Harte children devoted their spare time from school and home chores to aiding local churches.
Kieran was the oldest of the Harte children (there were 24 boys and girls) and at times resented the responsibilities placed upon him by his father and uncles. However, he found solace in conversing with Father Aidan who was five years older than Kieran. Father Aidan represented an avant-gardist movement in the Northern Irish priesthood which emphasized self-fulfillment and purity over community. Over the years, Kieran and Father Aidan became inseparable. Through Father Aidan, Kieran developed a passion for boxing. For him, it was a way of escaping the strenous responsibilities of the farm and family life. Kieran dreamed of making his own destiny where neither his parents nor his family were there to guide him in every step. For years they trained together until Kieran decided to enter a tournament in Dublin. Father Aidan did not accompany him as it was frowned upon by the senior fathers.
Against his father's and eldest uncle's wishes, Kieran went to Dublin. Alone. It was just as he wanted it. He only wanted to be alone for certain events in his life. He thought to himself as he boarded the bus to Dublin, "I will finally be my own man, you know. It's about time, I tell ya. I'm not going to be their helping hand any longer. It's time they took over. Please God, give my parents the strength to accept the path that I've taken. Reassure them that I'm not going anywhere, I'll only be gone for a little bit." At that moment, he had quietly questioned whether he was being selfish for leaving his family at such a time. He knew they were having problems with the local patrons. There were talks of protection taxes by the local mafia and fears of an expanding heroin trade into areas only the countryside offered. It was Father Aidan who reassured Kieran that these were simply fears. The IRA had recently declared a ceasefire and was rumored to be basing operations in Col
At night, on that same day, the Harte family gathered at the St. Patrick's Holy Church (the same church where Father Aidan resides) to celebrate Grandfather Harte's retirement from the family business. It was a joyous occasion marked by Kieran's absence. The festivities were interrupted at 11:33 by a gang of tall, hooded, long-coated individuals. The Hartes were scared as they were only able to see the glowing red eyes underneath the hoods. Those two seconds of fear were the last feelings that they would ever feel.
Bruised and battered, Kieran sniped at himself for the lack of inexperience that he showed at the Dublin tournament. He rued returning home as he knew he would be seen as a failure. Rather, than seeing his family first he went to St. Patrick's to seek solace in Father Aidan. His arrival at the church would forever mark his life. That was the defining event in his manhood. The church was in pieces. The air was thick with smoke and the stench of charred bodies.
Kieran was emotionless and at a loss for words when a figure approached him. The detective explained to him what had happened two nights ago. They had retrieved most of the bodies that were not burned.
"Oh my God," Kieran had thought to himself. For three days he had locked himself inside his house at which point he decided to go to the morgue to look at his family one last time. The same detective crossed paths with Kieran in the morgue and decided to tell Kieran that there were too many questions left unresolved. The bodies that were not charred had puncture wounds. Secondly, the detective was dumbfounded as to why a powder formed the letter R in at the church's entrance. Tests confirmed that the powder was heroin. Thirdly, three priests were unaccounted for, including this one priest who accompanied a friend to Dublin for a competition. Kieran was taken aback as he realized that the detective was Father Aidan and that Father Aidan did not accompany him to the tournament.
***The Middle Years: The Chase Begins***
That fateful encounter with the detective in the morgue convinced Kieran to look into his family's massacre on his own.
For three years, he searched across Europe until he met a beautiful woman in Prague. They fell in love and were engaged to be married. The night before their wedding, Kieran's fiancee was found dead outside a burning confessional. Kieran was aghast when he saw familiar puncture wounds in her throat. At this moment, he denounced his faith and vowed vengeance on the ones who took anything that mattered to him away.
On a stopover in London, Kieran came across a hotel registry which had the name Damien Brennan. He knew that name, as it was Father Aidan's ring name when he boxed in his younger days. He broke into Brennan's room to find it empty except for bottles of a thick, reddish liquid in the fridge. Kieran later found out from the hotel's concierge that Mr. Brennan was headed to New York. Kieran followed suit hoping to get some answers from Father Aidan.
***The Present: The Man Defines His Destiny***
Kieran arrived to New York, a troubled man. His stay in London was welcomed by hooded individuals he later found out were vampires. It was here that he learned how to kill them. However, in New York, it was different. Devoid of any emotions or sensations and a yearning for answers, Kieran developed a pleasure for pain. He came close to losing his life after a vampire drank from him before he staked his assailant. The feeling of being drank was intoxicating. He hadnt felt alive since his fiancee died three years earlier.
Slowly, Kieran developed a desire for being drank. Before he'd stake a vampire, he'd seduce the vampire into drinking from him.
In Colorado, Kieran encountered a female vampire who had a striking resemblance to his fiancee. Seduced by her allure, Kieran was almost convinced in drinking from her until he heard her utter "Damien..." He staked her and later deduced that Father Aidan was in LA.
Kieran is an emotional wreck. He set out to avenge his losses and then fell into a game of chase with the mysterious Damien Brennan/Father Aidan. However, this all became secondary to Kieran's essential void, emptiness. He could not feel anything. He needed to feel alive and needs vampires as much as wants to kill them. The same creatures who took life away from him also give it to him. This is Kieran's paradox. His mission is never clear, it is always compromised and new questions add to his list of unanswered questions. This is especially so since his encounter in Colorado, where he considered turning into a vampire. WHile he denounced his faith, there is still a part of him that remains devoted to it. It is this part that keeps him from crossing the blurred line that he created.
items: An arsenal of wooden stakes hidden in his short, black jacket (leather, European-style motorcycle jacket, not the Harley-Davidson kind).
Two short knives hidden along his
forearms.
powers: Kieran has more vulnerabilities than powers.
His skill in boxing, kickboxing, tae-kwon do and muay thai make up for his lack of powers. Furthermore, he has strong deductive skills which allow him to be one step ahead of the game from people who have power.
He is incredibly agile and a fast runner.
Kieran is stong in comparison to other mortals and is able to keep his ground against vampires and some demons. It is high threshold for pain and cunning that allow him to be even stronger.

player: Hi all,
This is my first time playing an online roleplaying game. But, I like to play Hero Quest and Hero Clix with friends, so, role playing is something I do enjoy to do. By the way, I am a HUGE comic book fan. My favorite titles include Batman, Daredevil, Nightwing, Sleeper, and the Flash.
I am 22 years old and I go to University. I'm awaiting an answer for my applications into architecture and building engineering.
On my spare time, I like to read (comics and books), watch films (Lord of the Rings, Pulp Fiction, Good Will Hunting, and Fight Club are my favorites) and watch reruns of the X-Files, Angel and Buffy. So, I guess I'm more of a solitary kind of guy than the one who goes out all the time. I do enjoy clubbing and going to lounges for a drink from time to time.
My passions include boxing and kickboxing. I also swim and love to run.
I sincerely hope to be a part of this group and have some wicked cool discussions on any topic with you guys. I forgot to mention, I love to talk with people about anything. I just find conversing so fun.
Bye, Ricardo.

Looks like a sound character with an excellent background a good story telling style (See? Reading comics does pay off!) I say bring him on. Best to stock up during midseason as we usually have some drop off...and its a long midseason too.
Collected Character Submissions 2
I'm tempted to say no, because most of those are inferior comics.(This from a West Coast Avengers fan. Yeesh.)
But on the points, there's nothing to complain about. Sure, he's got the dead family like so many others, but other than that, there's nothing wrong, and a ton right.
LEt him in.
Collected Character Submissions 2
I'd put my vote in a yes. I like the character, it is well detailed, and a good history to it.
Collected Character Submissions 2
I like it alot. Very tortured, and dark (I see the Batman influence)
A big ole Yes from me.
Collected Character Submissions 2
Yes, definitely welcome him in. His description is detailed and he obviously put a lot of time and energy into it. And I believe, "the more, the merrier."

This is by the same person who submitted Sol. I say pass on this one too (initial reaction)
Collected Character Submissions 2
Initial reaction: Could possibly be turned into a playable character but needs much, much, much more fleshing out. He says for instance race is 'immortal human.' Ok, then: how did he become immortal? What is the extent of his magic powers?
Aside from that, what is the charecter's history?
Re: Character Proposal: Sol
Personally I would give this a big no. It just all seems WAY too far fetched. I mean, he's immortal plus a witch plus a member of the Watcher's Council?? His family comprises of Witches, Watchers and Demons? Like Huh? And are his jeans and shirt magical too that they never need washing? And another thing, if he was born in Sunnydale how did he manage to become a watcher?
Plus I agree with Adam that there is absolutely no background to back up all these wild fantasies.
BTW I had to laugh at this bit
Has someone been watching Shallow Hal a bit too much??

*Smacks head against table repeatedly*

My initial reaction is that this is just way too sketchy. What's his history? How did he get his powers? And that thing about women??
Verdict - no. Start from scratch and try again.

No.

I hate being this harsh but i'd give this a definate NO. I think this character lacks great detail and a plausible background.
This pissed me off too, thats why i am being harsh throughout...that and i'm in a bit of a grouchy mood...sorry...... And he says that this character is him as an older person? Um helloooooooo why would anyone want to see woman as he would like to see them? I feel a little offended and lost for words!!!! I mean i know i'm fat and sometime not good to look at, but still deep down inside thats the way I look. If someone doesn't like it, turn around and look at some other person!
Collected Character Submissions 2
Oh yes, love the character. *sentence dripping with sarcasm*
yes i'm still not over being offended by this guy....
Collected Character Submissions 2
my quibbles:
The whole grampa thing reminds me of in Terry Pratchett's discworld stuff, where Susan's grandfather is Death, and she went to Death's realm during the holidays. but why would you want to go to hell? if your not going to suffer horribly you'd be watcing other people do so, which is a BIT sadistic if you ask me. Why is he immortal, i think is a must be answered question.
Is not the whole prophecies ting a little buffy? she is prophesised to die frequently and doesn't.
And totally backing up Saadia on this whole women thing. That just sucks. What is the point? why don't we just send him to the 'everyone-looks-like-Anna-Paquin-or-fudge-dimension' and be done with it?
Ok, so he's youngish, but I'm fifteen too, and I came up with the Manthy concept when I was 14. I think with a little more thought thiscould turn out ok. But it needs that thought.
Ok, so I'm mean, but I've been having a go at people all day, and I'm in the mood.

Since when did getting in here become so easy? I mean I'm all for players, and am I biased and bitter boojy from all the stuff I had to go through to get my chracter accepted, but WHAT IS THERE IN THE BIO?
Dave your leaniance is extrodinary. This needs more than five seconds effort. And which character is Mr-five-second-bio going to play? There is also a sex change in progress during the bio, evidence I think, of how little time was put into this. I am prefectly happy to say yes to Bios. I'm not all nasty, but there should be at least some sort of SOMETHING there for me to get enthusiastic about.
*pants*
yes the bitching is done.

LOL I hadn't even noticed that the character is supposed to be male AND played by Alyson Hannigan!
Also, I don't know how you got the impression that this character application has been accepted, since I thought it had been universally rejected. :?
Collected Character Submissions 2
I never approved this guy. My initial reaction was to "pass" on this guy. You may have read that as I let this guy "pass" (as in pass/fail). No I don't want this guy in the game. Either character.
Collected Character Submissions 2
*looks incredibly embarassed* ok. i shall attempt to excuse my self with "cross pacific language differences" I took pass to mean, he passed the test, as in he got in. o well.

Don't feel bad, Booj. When I first read what Dave wrote, my initial reaction was 'huh?' 'cause I thought he meant he'd let the guy in, too. But then I worked it out before I embarrassed myself by mentioning it to anyone.
