The WB has announced that it is planning on making a spinoff of Smallville featured around Aquaman.
I love superheros and everyone knows how Im the biggest supporter of Smallville, but something tells me this is going to be lame. He's not the coolest of heros, and seriously, how many underwater villains can you have? Also, they arent taking the same actor that played Aquaman in the Smallville episode (titled...yes Aquaman), which i find is kinda stupid cause it breaks continuity.
Anyways, wonder what you guys think?

I kinda liked the actor from the Smallville episode! He was cute and arrogant, which was cool. Of course, this new show doesn't sound as good.

I have to admit, I'm relieved they're not using the same actor who played him in Smallville. While he certainly looked perfect for the role, that guy was one of the most wooden actors I have seen in recent memory. He didn't so much "emote" as "look constipated."
That aside, this does seem like a really odd choice to turn into a TV series, especially if they're casting aside a lot of the Aquaman mythology as it seems they are. I would rather have them do the King of Atlantis angle and deal with the attempted military coups and the terrorist threat posed by Black Manta than try to make this into Smallville-by-the-Sea.

yea i have to agree with jim on that one im not the biggest fan of smallvill but its a hell alot better than the adventures of superman but i was never a big fan of aqua man i mean im strong and i talk to fish only so much you can do with it he cant even stay out the water for so long....side note what would a sea twelling super hero be doing in the middel of kanses ?
also shuan could ya hook me up with a picture of the aquaman charator as ive not seen it ??

As for that article Kent posted, all i have to say is the show sounds so lame i could vomit...what are they thinking honestly...Not only is Aquaman not popular enough to carry his own show, they are making it even stupider!!! If they had one sense of marketing Genious they would make a show around the Flash or Wonderwoman

With Joss Whedon working on the WW feature film, they won't be doing a series yet. But I completely agree she'd be a hell of a lot more interesting in the tv format than Aquaman -- that is, unless they do what they seem to be doing with ol' Arthur and strip her of everything that made her Wonder Woman in the first place.
As for the Flash, they did announce early last season -- just after they did that Smallville episode with the Flash -- that they were developing a Flash TV series. I guess it never went anywhere.
Personally, I think the best character(s) for a tv series that DC owns would be the Green Lantern Corps.

Wonder Woman did have a show that ran for three seasons back in the 70s, though. Just an FYI.

Of course, did anyone see the film Sky High about a school for superheros? Actually I don't know if it's out yet but I recently saw a mini-feature for it on T4. They had Lynda Carter (the original wonder woman aka Diana Prince from the TV series) as one of the teachers - which I thought was a nice touch.

Yeah, I remember watching reruns of it religiously when I was a kid. As I recall, it came on right after Dukes of Hazzard ;)
