Name: Adam Young
Race: Reverse Zombie
Gender: Male
Birthdate/Location: 2/6/1978 US/Armageddon, NJ
Group: Unaffiliated
Position: Informant
Description:
Adam is a slacker of the highest order. He favors leisurely pursuits over those involving actual work. The reason he manages to keep down a job is because there are enough beautiful women in Los Angeles that being a bartender and sometimes gossip columnist is worth it, simply for the amount of women he can associate with. He is obsessed with the usual pursuits of a bachelor (women, cars, his music collection, hitting his enemies with golf clubs, etc.) however he has an intense love of music, leaning towards prog-rock and electronic genres. His aproach to life is more of a "do what thou wilt" one, coupled with an intense need to keep certain abilities he has away from the public eye. He also has a hatred of the shambling undead, and will kill them on sight.
History:
WARNING: THIS WILL GET GRUESOME LATER ON, AND NOT ALL OF IT WILL BE FOR THE SQUEAMISH, NOR WILL THOSE PARTS BE IN PARTICULARLY GOOD TASTE. I FIGURED I MIGHT AS WELL WARN YOU, SO THAT YOU DON'T THINK OF ME AS ENTIRELY BAD.
Adam was discovered living in a cage in the monastery of an obscure cult in Romania, where they poked him with sticks every day while yelling "Satan!" at him. This is because they saw Adam eating, and figured he must be the Devil in disguise. This may be due to the fact that the monks worship Rod Serling and think that messages to them are encoded within boadcasts of "The Twilight Zone". (It may also be because Adam was eating raw meat...) The episode they had watched before finding Adam was "The Howling Man", about the devil being found by a group of monks who...imprison him and poke him with sticks.
Adam used his powers to escape, making some nearby birds change the channel and peck anyone who got close until the monks let him go. Before that, his life seems to be one huge blank except for the words "Zombie Priest".
Speculation is that Adam was experimented on by a priest living in the South Pacific in an attempt to make a "judas zombie", or a human who fed on the flesh of humans and was capable of sentient thought. Instead, Adam has become a "reverse zombie", a human capable of sentient thought who must feed on the flesh of the dead. This, however plausible, fails to explain his abilit to control birds with his mind. Another explanation is that Adam is one of nature's mistakes, and this seems more likely.
Adam decided it was time to go to the states, as he had heard of a place known as "Los Angeles" where enough weirdness was going on that he wouldn't be maligned. When he finally got there with nothing but a ripped pair of jeans, an HR Giger T-shirt, and a golf club, he knew he needed a job to be able to survive, and that criminalism, however grand, wasn't gonna cut it if he was going to steal bodies and mix them into his lo mein. As luck would have it, he wandered into a fairly popular bar called "Porfirio Diaz", which was in need of a bartender.
The bar owner took one look at him and decided that beneath the layer or six of grime, beneath the tattered T-shirt and jeans, there was actually a decent guy inside. He let Adam stay in the upstairs room, helped the poor man-thing get back on his feet, and didn't question his monthly walkabout when he came back with brown paper packages.
Eventually, Adam got his bartending license, and was allowed to serve the public. He was a huge sucess, being able to talk philosophy, theology, pop-culture, and music with just about anyone. He also mixed a mean Sunset. With his new job, he discovered that people, when they had enough alcohol, would mutter things and engage him in one-sided conversation, revealing some incredibly dirty laundry to the semi-willing barkeep. Adam started writing all the gossip he got down, and went to the paper with it, under the name "Martin Strong".
The occasional airing of dirty laundry turned into a regular thing, with everone in town either praising "Martin" or wanting his head on a spike. Adam lives comfortably, based on his double life, and occasionally supplies those who ask with interesting tidbits about goings-on in the city. He must always be careful, though, that his secrets may be revealed.
Update:
Adam now owns and operates the Porfirio Diaz, after the old owner died under mysterious circumstances during the South Central Zombie War. Interestingly enough, the man's body was never found, and his coffin was surprisingly light during the cremation. Adam's gossip column has flourished, and his business is better than ever.
Dr. Bloodmoney, who barely escaped with his life after what Adam did to him, is in seclusion somewhere, plotting his revenge on those what brought him down...
Items:
- .357 magnum revolver, "Lady Death" stylized designs on the barrel and andle.
- King Cobra driver (golf club) "Stormbringer". Titanium. Name written in gold script across head of driver. Blessed by a local catholic priest once a week.
- Dark red Ferrari, modified for a better stereo system, MP3 player cradle, and a GPS in dashboard
- MP3 player, black, carried in pocket. Stocked mostly with songs by At the Drive-In, KMFDM, MSI, and Bloc Party.
Powers:
Adam is able to control small flocks of birds (only about five), as well as being able to "jump" into their heads and control them from there for a time of an hour.(he has severe migraines afterwards) He also does not age. This comes with a price, as he cannot eat regular food and must survive on the bodies of dead humans for sustenance. The most he can go without food is one month, by the end of which he will look like a skeleton with skin.
