DESCRIPTION:
At 5’11” in height and 172lbs in weight, Garim has a lean yet surprisingly strong build and is exceptionally muscular for someone so trim. Ruggedly handsome, Captain Garim Moriss has short, roughly cut dark brown hair and piercing blue eyes. His well-sculpted jaw is often disguised beneath several days’ growth of stubble giving him a rather devil-may-care, rakish appearance.
Since Garim is on duty most of the time he is normally dressed in his uniform – a dark, form-fitting tunic style uniform made from a special bio-fibre material that also provides some protection against possible attacks. On the rare occasions that Garim is off-duty he tends to wear plain t-shirts and casual slacks.
BACKGROUND:
Born in the City of Theed on Naboo to parents Lyeia and Rilan Moriss, Garim had an interest in joining the military from a young age. His father was a soldier in the Naboo Palace Guard and so taught his son much about defence techniques and the finer points of military training. Young Garim Moriss proved himself to be particularly predisposed to this regimented lifestyle and so - since he had shown little promise in his academic studies – at the age of sixteen he enlisted with the Naboo Military Academy.
Dedicated and hard-working, Garim showed particular promise in the field of aviation and navigation – so much so that at the age of eighteen he was offered a place within the Naboo Space Fighter Corps, piloting the impressive N-1 Starfighters.
However, the young Garim Moriss was a reckless, tempestuous youth – full of restless energy that often resulted in trouble. As a talented pilot, Garim ached for a chance to put his training to practical application and detested the habitual and often dull life of a Naboo at peace.
Though occasionally proving to be something of a handful to his superiors, Garim also showed himself to be both capable and resourceful and quickly ascended the ranks of the Corps. During the Battle of Naboo, he was part of the Bravo Squadron led by Ric Olié that fought against swarms of the Trade Federation’s Droid Starfighters. Their mission was so successful that Garim was promoted to Captain and given command over his own squadron of N-1 Starfighters.
Unfortunately, Garim’s recklessness became his downfall. During a routine manoeuvre an error of judgement put his entire squadron in danger when they piloted too close to an asteroid belt. One of Garim’s team was killed instantly and several badly injured. Garim was dishonourably discharged from the Corps and left Naboo in disgrace.
For years, Garim roamed through space, taking work as and where he could find it. Determined never to repeat the mistakes of his past, Garim imposed upon himself a strict regimented lifestyle through which he hoped to purge himself of his lawless impulses. Caring little whether he lived or died, Garim eventually began to forge himself a new career, that of a bodyguard.
His fearlessness, self-discipline and seriousness of mind earned him quite a reputation amongst those that would require his services and at the age of twenty-one, upon his arrival on the remote planet of Vorgrell, he was offered employment in the Nobel House of Bertrayn as Captain of Security.
It was Garim’s misfortune that he was unable to save the young Master Myklos Bertrayn’s life during the Orsiri Coup – a fact that he still blames himself for to this day. He was ready to surrender his position and leave Vorgrell, that was until the young Arica Odari-Morosa arrived. He immediately felt a kinship towards the young girl who shared a similar temperament to his own and when Baron Oldrak assigned him the position of Arica’s bodyguard, he happily accepted.
POWERS & ABILITIES:
Garim has no ‘force powers’, but as a soldier and bodyguard he is well versed in many forms of combat including bare knuckle fighting and martial arts such as Jeswandi and Teras Kasi. He is also well trained in the use of various weapons such as the vibro-blade and blaster with which he is a particularly accurate shot. Garim is also a exceptionally talented fighter pilot. Though he is most familiar with the Naboo N-1 Starfighters he can also pilot other vessels with reasonable command.
ITEMS:
Blaster Pistol – This standard ranged weapon of both military personnel and civilians in the galaxy fires cohesive bursts of light-based energy called bolts. Blasters come in a variety of shapes and sizes, delivering a wide range of damage capability. Many blaster pistols have stun settings that incapacitate a target, rather than inflicting physical damage. While blasters do deliver a searing concussive blast, they can be foiled by magnetic seals and deflector shields.
Vibro-Dagger – a type of bladed weapon that uses a compact ultrasonic generator to create vibrations along the cutting edge's surface. This drastically increases the weapons lethality, allowing it to lacerate with minimal exertion from the wielder.
