When Lou moves them she edits them and formats them nice and neat. Someetimes she copies and pastes to make sure everyone looks the same. I am guessing thats where the "Jessy" came from...I deleted it.

CHATROOMS
Ok, I've added links to the main site to msn chatrooms that we can all use. Ally has created one group (LAbn) and I've created a second (LA By Night 2). All you need to do is click on the chatroom links and say you wish to join the group and voila!, you have access to the rooms, even if you're in a country that has blocked chatroom usage. :D
I've also created a Fantastic Legends room but I don't dare fiddle with Dave's masterpiece on the FL site, so I might leave him to link that one. :)

If you noticed there was some major work done to the site this week. The pertinent details are trivial but they include:
- A new templating system for LA by Night Site pages which will allow me to change the design.
- A dynamically updating history page (Thanks to Ally!)
- A couple of broken links were fixed
- All of the HTML pages have been replaced with PHP pages
- Broken HTML has been mostly fixed

Upgraded phpBB to 2.0.11
Okay a lot of things have changed. And not everything is exactly like it was in the previous versions of phpBB. Here is the quick list.
- The logo isn't a link to the front page any more. I might get around to fixing it pretty soon, but I don't know when. The front page link is now up there where the "Forum Index" link was.
- The color drop down will need to be added back in. That too is coming soon.
- Spell check with "SpellingCow" isn't mandatory. And (much to Heather's chagrin) it is a US English dictionary as well. Look to your profile to see about disabling it. http://www.spellingcow.com is where you can get more information about using it. Registering with them allows you to create personal dictionaries.
- the [ Hide] BBCode will make whatever you put in the tag disappear. Using a "click text" such as [ hide=click here] will give you a line that appears with text. Omitting the text uses "Click to reveal hidden content" by default. [hide=this is a sample]This text should be totally invisible until you click the link. I suggest that this tag not be used in any GAME posts but it is good to use for spoiler text and secrets/riddles/etc.[/hide]

There is also an [img=right] for right aligned and [ img=left] for left aligned. When you use the align tags, the text will flow around the picture. FL has had this feature for a while.
- Country flags can be changed within your Profile - this is also something the FL folks have had for a while.
- Anyone can have a custom title. I am not sure if it is an admin only function or if it is something you can control yourselves...look in your Profile (under interests) to see if you can add one to yourself.
- At the bottom of the page there is now a search within topic box.
- There is now a "Print view".
- The last 24 hours now has 12h, 48h, and 72 h as well.

I DO NOT recommend the DustyGreen theme for now, it seems to not have the links in the upper left so once you choose it, you can't get back to unchoose it. I might have to muck with it some. It was an experiment.

The Album has been checked out and cleared. It is now back online. I had to make some modifications to allow [ IMG] linking to photos from the album.
I will get around to uploading photos from galleries soon.
Security Update
Version 2.0.16 of phpBB has been released and I have applied the critical mods to the board for security reasons. This should have no effect on the operation of the board.
Members Lists
Minor change to the member List that I've been meaning to do. The default sort on the Members list is now Descending Order by Number of Posts. That means that to keep on the first page of the members lists you have to keep up your posts.
You can still choose the sort by Join date and such, but it no longer the default.

Dave had moved this Board Maintenance thread to the Admin forum and then thought he'd made the forum able to be viewed by registered users - but Testingsomething revealed that nobody could see it.
A few clicks later, and now here's the forum - magically reappeared. :)
The reason we discovered this was because I wanted to share some new smilies I found and uploaded to LNG.

I've removed the following themes:
- Comic Book
- Esbardu
- ClanzDarkness
- SubDark
It is getting tough to maintain all of those themes and nobody was using them at the time.I may (at some point in the future) make a color-selectable theme that will be similar to the BONES theme (in that it uses a single set of templates and only changes the Style Sheets).
I've also upgraded the board to 2.0.19 of the phpBB software. There should be no differences in the operation of the board other than to impose a 5-login attempt limit. So if you forget your password & you and try to login more than 5 times it will lock you out for 30 minutes.
While I was in there upgrading I removed the Flash menu system and added links to all of the individual game sites. I may change these to icons or graphics at some point but at least now they are consistent and easier to modify.

The Location field of the Profile Edit page for most of the styles (but not SubSilver) is missing so if you save your profile and that field isn't there it'll make your Location blank. I need to fix this.

A CAPTCHA code has been added to the guest posting form. This will prevent spam-bots from posting to LNG. I have used the same CAPTCH for our registration form as well since the bots obviously have cracked that tone too.
I added a routine to the Monday backup script that deletes any 0-post members. This is done as an incentive to make sure that the posters MAKE POSTS...even if it is a single 'Howdy' post.
I modified the backup script to back up to my local computer (the Macintosh "Wild and Bad" server) instead of a second database on Friedbaloney. I did this in case we suddenly lose access to Friedbaloney.
