Consider the way the day has begun: I know my alarm was set properly last night. I checked that it was set to go off at 4am no less than 3 times; it went off at 4am as well. The clock said so when it happened. Now, this is important for a simple reason.
My morning coffee was ready, by my alarm clock, at 4:20; drank by 5am; and I left for work at 5:15 in the morning. All perfectly normal. Which leads me to wonder something.
How the hell did I get to the office thirty minutes before I left?

Something strange is going on....
I'm thinking your alarm clock has had its time changed, whether accidentally or deliberately, and when it said 4am in reality it was somewhat earlier. I've had this happen to me on a handful of occasions in the past and it's always distressing to realise that by a slip of the finger I had done myself out of half an hour's sleep.

I have no idea how it got changed, though. Last night when I went to bed, it was reading right. Everything came on at the right time - and it can't be batteries going bad because the clock doesn't have batteries.
The only thing I can think of is that the cat did it to get food early. :)

Quite likely. You do realise that if cats had opposable thumbs they would have already taken over the world?
