It almost makes me wish I hadn't spent hundreds of £££ on all those Buffy DVD's :? This year I'll be writing to Santa for...

Complete Buffy

The whole lot on DVD in one box coming soon.

Out on 22nd November, courtesy of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, is Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Complete DVD Collector's Edition. Joyously packaged in a leatherette box, the set includes the seven seasons spread over 39 discs at the bargain price of £199.99.

As well as all the episodes, the DVD set includes various extra including commentaries, featurettes, outtakes, Easter Eggs, trailers and cast biographies. Plus, there's a special booklet included and a letter from Joss Whedon himself – although we doubt he's written each one.

Be warned, with only 10,000 produced, it may just fly off the shelves.

Yeah, something like this would have been nice to know about in advance - it certainly would be much, much less expensive than having bought each season seperately. Though at this point... well... if you've already bought more than a few seasons, why bother?

Ok, I'm a cynical bastard, but does anyone else get the feeling that they're basically trying to offer the diehard fans (who will have already gotten most, if not all, of the DVDs) a leather case, booklet, and letter for 200 pounds?

Oh I don't think there's any doubt in that Adam. At least the entire series boxset is something worth having if you haven't already gone out and bought the entire series, but what REALLY annoys me is stuff like this -

The Slayer Collection

A whole series of DVD's based soley on one character which is basically just a reprise of the episodes featuring that character. It seems a waste of money to buy a DVD just for a 15 min interview that Fox could have actually put on the DVD boxset to begin with. Oh and also this -

The Best of Buffy

I think one of the reviewers phrases it perfectly -

This DVD and the rest of the single disc slayer collection are just another way for 20th Century Fox to milk money out of loyal fans.

The fact that most fans have already got the entire seasons, and the majority of the extras as well, seems beyond the money grabbers attention spans, as they strive to make money while the slayer is still fresh in fans memories.

Buffy is over - and releasing these single discs is a slap in face, money grabbing, opportunistic, and greedy attempt to milk the buffy cow dry.

Oh! Now this is something I could actually sign up for, I used to absolutely LOVE these books when I was little :D

Buffy Book Details

Choose your own adventure Buffy books to appear.

Two Buffy "interactive novels" are scheduled to appear next year, in new series Stake Your Destiny.

The Suicide King by Robert Joseph Levy and Keep Me In Mind by Nancy Holder let the reader choose how the story progresses, and each have over a dozen different possible endings.

The books, due out in March and May next year, feature cover designs based on the style of the new Buffy Animated Series.

Oooh, neat.

But who else is distrubed by the thought of a Buffy animated series? I'm getting serious Trek vibes here! Next we're going to have....

Buffy: The Motion Picture

Which will, in the encyclopedia that comes out decades down the road, claim that it was the pilot for Buffy 2. The movie will suck, but it will not spell the end of the franchise.

Buffy 2 will then come out. We'll see another major charecter die, and some minor villain who appeared in a single episode is back for revenge. Buffy 4 will be the best movie, and loved even by non-Buffy fans, because it involves something like a parellel earth or time travel so that it's not in a typical Buffy setting. And a probe out to destroy the Earth.

We'll all want to deny Buffy 5 happened, and love the Shakespear-quoting villain who they introduce in the next movie. But in the internum, Slayer: The Next Generation will come out, set about 100 years in the future, and will spawn a number of spin-offs.

One of them will be out specifically to compete with a new vampire/occult show, and be the best spin-off series. Meanwhile, the last two spin-off series will suck. Eventually they will begin, in the last spin-off, to mash plot ideas of original episodes together, and call it original.

By the end, even some of the most diehard fans of the original show will feel embarassed to admit that they are "Buffyites."

Ok.... that's enough silliness and Trek-bashing from me. :)

Wasent there already a Buffy movie that, sucked and almost spelled doom for the franchise?

Er.... yes there was the original movie, but you never let facts get in the way of a good joke. :)

How about one of these sticking out of your stocking on Christmas day? Maybe not lol. How about instead of an Easter Egg? Well it did give me a laugh but for some reason I think I'll stick with the chocolate. :D

Accessorising Angel

leftBizarre bits accompany new vampire doll.

Toymakers Sideshow Collectibles have announced their oddest action figure yet - a 12" Angel from his pre-vampire days.

The figure - sculpted by the fabulously-monikered Oluf W. Hartvigson - is amusing enough in itself, what with its Darla bite detail, embroidered vest and slop pants. What tickled us most, however, were the accessories.

For your $40 you get the following fab extras:

The Orb of Thesulah (a bit early, but...)
Several small animal bone piles (eh?)
Ceremonial candles (nice for ambience, but why?)
Ceremonial skull with pillow (what on Earth?)

Sadly you have to provide your own cursing gypsies and centuries of brooding self-pity, but it's a pretty interesting package nonetheless.

The figure is limited to 750 pieces and will be available at local sci fi emporia in a month or two.

No gypsy curse or centuries of brooding self-pity? Hardly seems worth it.
