The dwarvish natives of the Arctic caverns did not speak his language, but conversed in their own twittering tongue, conducting incomprehensible rituals when they were not actually working the factories.

Once every year, they forced him, sobbing and protesting, into Endless Night. During the journey, he would stand near every child in the world and leave on of the dwarves' invisible gifts by its bedside. The children slept, frozen in time.

He envied Prometheus and Loki, Sisyphus and Judas. His punishment was harsher.

this is a short story by Neil Gaiman, the same bloke hwo wrote Neverwhere. He writes some freaky stuff. This one scared my quite alot. just in a wierd way. What did the jolly fat man do to deserven this horrible punishment? Scarey. like it.

I don't know...I tended to like "We can get them for you wholesale" and "Babycakes" a lot more, if you want freaky stuff.
