This is from Mai, who had WAY too much fun

Character Name: Sakuragi Shizuyuri/Lile O'Donovan
Race: Human
Gender: Female

Group: N/A
Position: N/A

Description: For all intents and purposes, Shizuyuri looks like a relatively boyish Japanese... except for her dark red hair that, for some freak accident reason, became the average of her mother's and father's hair colours. She wears the aforementioned hair short, in a "carefully arranged wild" hairstyle. Clothing-wise, her favourite attire is a white suit, though she will dress in other styles if the situation calls for it. In LA, she'd be considered medium height and below average weight. She is rather good-looking, floating more on the "handsome" side, as opposed to "beautiful" and, quite frankly, she wouldn't need to exactly jump through loops to pass off as a somewhat feminine guy.

History: The beginning of the girl known as Sakuragi Shizuyuri in the East and Lile O'Donovan in the West is truly a heroic one, although the heroism is somewhat diminished by the facts that Shizuyuri (the name she prefers over Lile) herself had little to do with any of that and was the consequence, not the cause. Well that, and her parents were neither particularly heroic types.

How, or WHY did a Japanese martial artist specialized in assassinations of the paranormal and an Irish mercenary specialized in the art of blowing things up meet in the first place is anyone's guess. Meet they did, though, while on a mission in America. Immediate attraction and alcohol were the cause, Yuri/Lile was the consequence.

Raised primarily by her mother, Shizuyuri grew up to be a sort of... strange kid (who wouldn't, if they had a mother who backstabs demons for living?). Her father, who always tried to be there for her as much as possible (which is not saying a lot, because he's a mercenary and the world runs on gunpowder...), was actually not much of a help with the whole "normal kid" thing. She inherited her asiatic features, her martial arts and magical skills from her mother, her red hair and love for explosives from her father. Needless to say, she provoked extreme reactions among the students of her catholic, all-girl school (where she, thanks to her physical abilities, became something of a local celebrity and her boyish charm gained her the title of "Prince") who more or less uniformly grew to hate her or love her.

The unconditional love and admiration of legions of fangirls are probably the main contributor to her vanity problems. Namely, her vanity is excessive. There's just no other word for it, unless you consider "extreme" to be a better word. As she grew up and graduated, she had been immersed into the world of Things That Go Bump In The Night(tm) to the extent where she began developing her own techniques and skills for actual use against vampires and demons in mortal combat. She studied what lore she could that regarded the Slayers and the Watchers and learned from those what she could. Of course, while a top-notch martial artist by skill, her hits didn't pack nearly as much punch as those of a real, activated Slayer, so she has made several strategies and tactics for compensating that, ranging from sword-usage to tricking demons and vampires into entering dynamite blast ranges (while Shizuyuri is, of course, out of said range).

After she got sick of dividing her time between Japan and Ireland, she decided to come into the States. Sponsored by the questionable-sourced, but extensive incomes of her parents (yes, she violates universal heroic laws by having both parents alive and in good health), she met a clan of demons in New York city that was preying on humans for arbitrary reasons and, in a resulting long and bloody chase across the continent, ended up in LA. Shizuyuri, tired of the chase and looking for a rest, decided to settle down and also enroll into the UCLA... The rest, as they say, is history, even if it really isn't history yet and will only become so once it's over...

Items: Shizuyuri has, in fact, quite an arsenal, all bought using the contacts of her parents. The usual range of knives, crossbows, holy water and crosses aside, she also owns a .44 Magnum revolver (incidentally, the only LEGAL weapon she owns) and a whole bunch of explosives, safely stacked out of the eye and reach of them pesky law enforcers... But her most notable items are her walking cane, which hides a sword inside, and the Ultimate Expression of Vanity: her sharp-pressed suit, perfectly tailored and of high-quality materials, coloured white and blue. It is elegant, in a slightly old-fashioned and really masculine kind of way, but that's not the point of it - the point is, this particular suit (jacket, blouse, pants and shoes) is the only item that Shizuyuri has ever used her magical powers on (though much, MUCH guidance and aid was required, meaning Shizuyuri did the minority of the work) to enchant it. It did not become a shining armour, but it CAN be turned into a pitch-black suit when needed and it's also immune to dirt, slime, grime, wear, tear and all that (yes, that was Shizuyuri's idea). The final notable item of her's is a cross pendant with a sapphire in the center; according to the legend, it originates from the 8th century Ireland and supposedly holds considerable magical power. Thus far, Lile has not managed to divine it's nature nor learn to use it.

Powers: She is an advanced martial artist (a mix of karate and kendo, mostly, with some Chinese kung-fu thrown in and then some modifications added to make the style more efficient against non-human opponents) and, bluntly put, she kicks ass at human-level. However, the afore-mentioned problems of not having enough raw physical power to overcome vampiric and demonic endurance at times has led her to employ other tactics. For that end, she has learned demolitions and shooting to give her an edge against the enemies. As part of her mother's legacies, she also has some magical power; however, she is notoriously bad at shaping the magical energy she possesses into anything meaningful, which essentially leaves her unable to use magic for offensive or defensive spells. The only style of magic she has made any progress in is enhancing her own fighting abilities (such as concentrating her power into a particular kick or jump) and while those, every once in a while, DO manage to produce impressive results, the usage of such spells leaves her winded too fast, too often, to go on using those techniques for a longer time (so no, she WON'T be able to traverse LA, jumping from roof to roof).

Played by: If anyone finds a tomboyish, redheaded half-Irish, half-Japanese actress, let me know. For now, you'll have to make do with the description, unless you're looking for manga images.

Well, doing a Google search gave me LOTS of redheaded Japanese girls... trouble is they were all on porn sites, so kind of inappropriate for the general forums. :) Keep checking, though, 'cause we'll do ANYthing to avoid having Manga images for characters. Heck, how about finding a pic of a tomboyish Japanese girl and then photoshopping the hair?

I totally understand that :-) It's LABN, not BESM.

The problem with finding nothing but porn is indeed... well, a problem. (maybe I should start googling with hiragana characters instead of latin?)
