Ok so I bet you didn't expect to see me up here did you?

This is from Depeche Mode's Songs of Faith and Devotion and I just think it fits...

I would tell you about the things
They put me through
The pain I've been subjected to
But the Lord himself would blush
The countless feasts laid at my feet
Forbidden fruits for me to eat
But I think your pulse would start to rush

Now I'm not looking for absolution
Forgiveness for the things I do
But before you come to any conclusions
Try walking in my shoes
Try walking in my shoes

You'll stumble in my footsteps
Keep the same appointments I kept
If you try walking in my shoes
If you try walking in my shoes

Morality would frown upon
Decency look down upon
The scapegoat fate's made of me
But I promise now, my judge and jurors
My intentions couldn't have been purer
My case is easy to see

I'm not looking for a clearer conscience
Peace of mind after what I've been through
And before we talk of any repentance
Try walking in my shoes
Try walking in my shoes

You'll stumble in my footsteps
Keep the same appointments I kept
If you try walking in my shoes
If you try walking in my shoes
Try walking in my shoes

Now I'm not looking for absolution
Forgiveness for the things I do
But before you come to any conclusions
Try walking in my shoes
Try walking in my shoes

You'll stumble in my footsteps
Keep the same appointments I kept
If you try walking in my shoes

You'll stumble in my footsteps
Keep the same appointments I kept
If you try walking in my shoes
Try walking in my shoes
If you try walking in my shoes
Try walking in my shoes

As the young teen takes the stage, the Host turns to the chaos demon sitting beside him.

"Poor kid, I heard he almost killed himself last night. Lucky enough, the little bugger's friend came back to save him. Must be hard for him though, having to say goodbye again".

The Host goes quiet, as Cole begins to sing.

You left me with goodbye and open arms
A cut so deep I don't deserve
You were always invincible in my eyes
the only thing against us now is time

Could it be any harder to say goodbye and without you,
Could it be any harder to watch you go, to face what's true
If I only had one more day

I lie down and blind myself with laughter
A quick fix or hope is what I'm needing
And how I wish that I could turn back the hours
But I know I just don't have the power

I'd listen close to your every word,
As if its your last, I know its your last,
Cause today, oh, you're gone.

Daye saunters up onto the stage swathed in black leather and sex. She strokes the microphone and begins to sing.

I've been looking for an original sin
One with a twist and a bit of a spin
And since I've done all the old ones 'till they've all been done in
Now I'm just looking, then I'm gone with the wind
Endlessly searching for an original sin...

You can dance forever, you've got a fire in your feet
But will it ever be enough?
You know that it'll never be enough

You can fly and never land and never need to sleep
But will it ever be enough?
You know that it'll never be enough

It's not enough to make the nightmares go away
It's not enough to make the tears run dry
It's not enough to live a little better every day
Everything that they taught us, was nothing but lies
Everything that they brought us, was nothing but bribes
But the lies are over now
All I wanted was a piece of the night
I never got an equal share
When the stars are out of sight
And the moon is down
The natives are so restless tonight!...

I've been looking for an original sin
One with a twist and a bit of a spin
And since I've done all the old ones 'till they've all been done in
Now I'm just looking, then I'm gone with the wind
Endlessly searching for an original sin

You can lose yourself in pleasure 'till your body's going numb
But will it ever be enough?
You know that it'll never be enough

You can always take whatever you conceivably could want
But will it ever be enough?
You know that it'll never be enough

It's not enough to make the nightmares go away
It's not enough to make the tears run dry
It's not enough to live a little better every day
Everything that they taught us, was nothing but lies
Everything that the brought us, was nothing but bribes
But the lies are over now
All I wanted was a piece of the night
It never had to get so dark
When the stars are out of sight
And the moon is down
The natives are so restless tonight!

I've been looking for an original sin
One with a twist and a bit of a spin
And since I've done all the old ones 'till they've all been done in
Now I'm just looking, then I'm gone with the wind
Endlessly searching for an original sin

I've been looking for the ultimate crime
Infinite victims, infinitesimal time
And I'm so very guilty for no reason or rhyme
So now I'm just looking and I'm killing some time
Endlessly searching for the ultimate crime

I've been looking for an original sin
One with a twist and a bit of a spin
And since I've done all the old ones 'till they've all been done in
Now I'm just looking, then I'm gone with the wind
Endlessly searching for an original sin...

I'm applying for a license to thrill
Going out on the edge
Moving in for the kill
And there'll be hell to pay someday
So put it all on the bill
'Cause we'll always be paying
And paying until
We're beyond expiration
With a license to thrill
(I've been looking for an original sin...)

Drew steps out of the shadows as Daye struts off the stage and into the arms of a man in the shadows. He turns to the audience and steps up to the mic.

I took one look and something snapped inside,
I said I love your eyes
You took my heart, you took my breath away,
I felt my temperature rise
You said you've never loved a man this way
That it was heaven you were here to stay
And now you're just another fallen angel
And I hope that the fall didn't do you no harm
And now you're just another fallen angel
Falling into somebody else's arms

I took one look and I was paralyzed and was in paradise
I must admit that when I first laid eyes,
you had me hypnotized
You said I'm sorry but I don't say much
And I'm in heaven when I feel your touch

And now you're just another fallen angel
And I hope that the fall didn't do you no harm
And now you're just another fallen angel
Falling into somebody else's arms

Follow your own road baby, I'll be there when you need me
To love and to comfort you
And what he got ain't enough to keep you in the air -
I'll be there
You said you've never loved a man this way
That it was heaven you were here to stay

And now you're just another fallen angel
And I hope that the fall didn't do you no harm
And now you're just another fallen angel

Marcus watches Daye then walkes to the stage and begins to sing

You opened up your door
I couldn't believe my luck
You in your new blue dress
Taking away my breath
The cradle is soft and warm
Couldn't do me no harm
You're showing me how to give
Into temptation
Knowing full well the earth will rebel
Into temptation

A muddle of nervous words
Could never amount to betrayal
The sentence is all my own
The price is to watch it fail
As I turn to go
You looked at me for half a second
With an open invitation for me to go

Into temptation
Knowing full well the earth will rebel
Into temptation
Safe in the wide open arms of hell

We can go sailing in
Climb down, lose yourself when you linger long
Into temptation
Right where you belong

The guilty get no sleep
In the last slow hours of morning
Experience is cheap
I should've listened to the warning
But the cradle is soft and warm

Into temptation
Knowing full well the earth will rebel
Into your wide open arms
No way to break the spell
Don't tell

Tash has been sitting in Caritas, almost mannequin-like as the others sang their songs. Suddenly she jerks upright and moves to the stage, almost as though she's sleepwalking.

Just for a second, the real Tash asserts herself over the influence of the Hyde virus. She grabs the mike and begins to sing:

I'm standing on a bridge
I'm waiting in the dark
I thought that you'd be here by now
There's nothing but the rain
No footsteps on the ground
I'm listening but there's no sound

Isn't anyone trying to find me?
Won't somebody come take me home?
It's a damn cold night
Trying to figure out this life
Won't you take me by the hand,
Take me somewhere new
I don't know who you are
But I... I'm with you
I'm with you

I'm looking for a place
Searching for a face
Is anybody here I know?
'Cause nothing's going right
And everything's a mess
And no one likes to be alone

Isn't anyone trying to find me?
Won't somebody come take me home?
It's a damn cold night
Trying to figure out this life
Won't you take me by the hand,
Take me somewhere new
I don't know who you are
But I... I'm with you
I'm with you

Oh, why is everything so confusing?
Maybe I'm just out of my mind
Yea yea yea

It's a damn cold night
Trying to figure out this life
Won't you take me by the hand,
Take me somewhere new
I don't know who you are
But I... I'm with you
I'm with you

Take me by the hand
Take me somewhere new
I don't know who you are
But I... I'm with you
I'm with you

Take me by the hand
Take me somewhere new
I don't know who you are
But I... I'm with you
I'm with you
I'm with you...

The Host ignores the alcohol pooling across the bar from his spilled drink and quickly stands up, horror still etched on his face.

"Ok, boys and girls, last call. We're closing early tonight. Sorry sweet-peas, but you know how it is..."

Kate takes to the stage and clears her throat as the music starts to play. She glances at Galen who sits in the audience and blushes slightly before starting to sing...

We’ve come too far we can’t turn back
Have our good days, have our bad
When I’m feeling blue
You say that I’m hurting you
We try so hard not to fight
But sometimes we cross the line
And I wanna leave
But you
Won’t let me

We have our highs and lows
Just like everybody else
Doesn’t mean that we walk away
We work through our mistakes

Sometimes I love you
Sometimes I don’t
But I never ever
Never want to let you go
The road’s not easy
But the feeling’s strong
It’s the little things that keep me holding on

We’re both guilty of mistakes
Though you rarely take the blame
Are you coming through
Sometimes
I hate you
But it’s not mistakes in life you make
It’s the good you do along the way
The dues you pay

We have our highs and lows
Something everybody knows
Doesn’t mean that we run away
We work through our mistakes

Sometimes I love you
Sometimes I don’t
But I never ever
Never want to let you go
The road’s not easy
But the feeling’s strong
It’s the little things that keep me holding on

Ohhh
Of all the crazy things in life there’s pain
It’s you and me
We’ve come so far sometimes I can’t believe
That I wouldn’t change a thing

Sometimes I love you
Sometimes I don’t
But I never ever
Never want to let you go
The road’s not easy
But the feeling’s strong
It’s the little things that keep me holding on

A beautiful unknown brunette walks on stage, she's wearing a red dress too tight and too short and she looks completely self-conscious in it. Once upon the stage she straightens her shoulders and takes the mic.

She said revenge can be so sweet
I like to take it when I can
I need to play with the ones I hate
I like to see them suffer

It has to be dangerous
It has to be refined
It has to be skillfull
You need to take your time

She said I take care
Of my resources
You never know
When you might need them

**She said, "You got a snake,
And that's a good example
You don't even notice it until you're bitten,
You learn to enjoy it.**

I'm fast and I'm strong
My reflexes are good
It doesn't take long
To achieve my deserved revenge

Kate shuffles awkwardly in her chair as she waits for the prompt and begins to sing.

Baby relax, we've been waiting for this
And we deserve the heavenly bliss
That waits underneath the stars above
Can't you hear them begging "Let's Make Love"?
From the bottom of my heart, I give you my soul
Right here in this room the truth unfolds

It's saying, stop playing
Delaying the divine
The pleasure is mine
Let me give some to you
We can take our time
Nothing I'd rather do
Than make you feel fine
Make your light shine
Give you moments you can treasure
Forever
Remember
The pleasure is mine, mine, mine, all mine...

Everyday I've been dreaming about
How it's gonna be, to find you out
To be sharing your kiss
To be just like this
What I wouldn't do for a taste of your lips
So let's not waste one second more
Let's cut the lights, and let's lock the door

It's saying, stop playing
Delaying the divine
The pleasure is mine
Let me give some to you
We can take our time
Nothing I'd rather do
Than make you feel fine
Make your light shine
Give you moments you can treasure
Forever
Remember
The pleasure is mine, mine, mine, all mine...
The pleasure is mine, mine, mine, all mine...

The pleasure is mine
Oh, baby I don't wanna breathe
Don't want to change a single vibe
Nobody else I'd rather see
Than you like this before my eyes
Wanna be everything you need
Keep you satisfied, I'm praying, stop playing
It's saying, stop playing

The pleasure is mine
Let me give some to you
We can take our time
Nothing I'd rather do
Than make you feel fine
Make you light shine
Give you moments you can treasure
Forever
Remember
The pleasure is mine, mine, mine, all mine...

A Perfect Indian
Sinead O'Connor

A Perfect Indian is he
Remembering him life is sweet
Like a weeping willow
His face on my pillow
Comes to me still in my dreams

And there I saw a young baby
A beautiful daughter was she
A face from a painting
Red cheeks and teeth aching
Her eyes like a wild Irish sea

On a table in her yellow dress
For a photograph feigned happiness
Why in my life is that the only time
That any of you will smile at me

I'm sailing on this terrible ocean
I've come for my self to retrieve
Too long have I been feeling like Lir's children
And there's only one way to be free

He's shy and he speaks quietly
He's gentle and he seems to me
Like the elf - arrow
His face worn and harrowed
Is he a daydreamer like me

I'm sailing on this terrible ocean
I've come for my self to retrieve
Too long have I been feeling like Lir's children
And there's only one way to be free

The last note lingers in the air and Simryn puts the mic down with an audible click before stepping out of the spotlight, back into the comfort of shadows.

The host steps up to the stage solemnly and flicks his wrist in the air. A screen descends from above and the room grows quiet.

On the screen, a golden skinned demon with a deeply scarred visage steps up to the microphone. Without preamble he begins to sing in a hoarse, but somehow lovely voice.

I'm not a perfect person
There's many things I wish I didn't do
But I continue learning
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you

I'm sorry that I hurt you
It's something I must live with everyday
And all the pain I put you through
I wish that I could take it all away
And be the one who catches all your tears
Thats why i need you to hear

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is You [x4]

I'm not a perfect person
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you

I've found a reason to show
A side of me you didn't know
A reason for all that I do
And the reason is you

Now that's the prettiest sound.
You'll ever hear.
It's just like heavenly music to my ear.
Man I get such a boot.
When I hear rooty -toot -toot.

I always feel high.
When a rod is near by .
Cause I love

The fun of reaching for a gun and going bang bang.
I come alive.
Each time a forty -five.
Begins to bang bang.

In gangster movies.
I love the scene.
The nice guy's nice.
And the mean guy's mean.
The boss's moll.
Always steps between .
Quick draws.
Applause.

My kind of prank.
Is walking in a bank.
And going bang bang.
The ricochet.
A bullet play a melody.
Like pistol Joe.
And machine gun Moe.
Is the way I'm aiming to be.

Cause no one.
I know .
Gets oh such a glow.
Out of bang bang.
Like me.
(Instrument solo)

Like shotgun seats.
At the Roscoe kit.
I'll be out to make history.

Cause I'm not afraid
To stage me a raid.
On some hangout.

And my gun will hum.
While I'm blasting some rival gang out.
Cause no one.
I know.
Gets oh such a glow.
Out of bang bang.
Like me.

Adriana slowly walked onto the stage, her knees trembling. The young gypsy approached the microphone, her dark brown hair pulled up elegantly. She smoothed out her white, knee length dress, decorated in pink flowers. Her shaky hands settled on the cold, buzzing microphone. Drea looked out the audience, their attention focused on her.

Lorne gazed at Adriana, sipping his Bourbon and Gin slowly. She had a distinct look her eyes that reminded him of a frightened rabbit. As he placed his drink down, he felt her smoldering aura.

“Poor, thing," He mumbled, rising his glass and taking another sip, "She's one guilt trip away from an emotional breakdown." Lorne's attention was brought back to the present, as Adriana cleared her throat.

“I… I’ve been wanting to get up here for some time now,” She began, still quivering from the dominate silence, “B-but the right song just… hasn’t come along; one that I could relate to.”

Adriana looked up the familiar faces of the people from her apartment building and others, and drew in a breath. “Recently, though, I... I did find that song.”

She cut her herself off, and breathed deeply. Softly, she began to sing.

I don't feel a thing
and I stopped remembering
The days are just like moments turned to hours

Mother Used to say
if you want, you'll find a way
Bet mother never danced through fire shower

Walk in the rain, in the rain, in the rain
I walk in the rain, in the rain
Is it right or is it wrong
and is it here that I belong

I don't hear a sound
Silent faces in the ground
The quiet screams, but I refuse to listen

If there is a hell
I'm sure this is how it smells
Wish this were a dream, but no, it isn't

Walk in the rain, in the rain, in the rain
I walk in the rain, in the rain
Am I right or am I wrong
and is it here that I belong

Walk in the rain, in the rain, in the rain
I walk in the rain, in the rain
Why do I feel so alone
For some reason I think of home

“Am I gonna have to sing?”

“Definitely!” the eight-ball replies blankly.

With that, he begrudgingly makes his way to the stage and grabs the microphone.

“Oh…

I am exploring the inside--I find it desolate
I do implore these confines, now, as they penetrate--"recreate me"
I'm hovering throughout time, I crumble in these days
I crumble--I cannot find reflection in these days…

If you listen…Listen, listen
Listen close…Beat by beat
You can hear when the heart stops--I saved the pieces
When it broke and ground them all to dust

I am destroyed by the inside--I disassociate
I hope to destroy the outside--it will alleviate and elevate me
Like water flowing into lungs, I'm flowing through these days
As morphine tears through deadened veins, I'm numbing in these days
So...

If you listen…Listen, listen
Listen close…Beat by beat
You can hear when the heart stops--I saved the pieces
When it broke and ground them all to dust

…I know what died that night
It can never be brought back to life
Once again, I know…

…I know I died that night
And I'll never be brought back to life
Once again, I know…

If you listen…Listen, listen
Listen close…Beat by beat
You can hear when the heart stops--I saved the pieces
When it broke and ground them all to dust!”

Sitting in the bar, the tall man looked at the redhead on stage. She was a stranger, but her eyes shone a familiar green. Raising his glass, he saluted her as she started to sing.

It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart
Without saying a word you can light up the dark
Try as I may I could never explain
What I hear when you don't say a thing

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes sayin' you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all

All day long I can hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd
Old Mr. Webster could never define
What's being said between your heart and mine

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes sayin' you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes sayin' you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all

(When you say nothing at all - Alison Krauss)

A man baring an uncanny resemblance to Nick Cave, and wearing a tattered suit and no shoes, steps up to the mic. His voice is deep and meloncholy:

There she stands, this lovely creature
There she stands, there she stands
With her hair full of ribbons
And green gloves on her hands

So I asked this lovely creature
Yes, I asked. Yes I asked
Would she walk with me a while
Through this night so fast

She took my hand, this lovely creature
"Yes", she said, "Yes", she said
"Yes, I'll walk with you a while"
It was a joyful man she led

Over hills, this lovely creature
Over mountains, over ranges
By great pyramids and sphinxs
We met drifters and strangers

Oh the sands, my lovely creature
And the mad, moaning winds
At night the deserts writhed
With diabolical things

Through the night, through the night
The wind lashed and it whipped me
When I got home, my lovely creature
She was no longer with me

Somewhere she lies, this lovely creature
Beneath the slow drifting sands
With her hair full of ribbons
And green gloves on her hands

lovely creature nick cave and the bad seeds.

A young man with dark curly hair puts down his carton of long pork lo mein, squeezes the hand of a young woman next to him, extricates a huge black bird from his shoulder, leaving a fairly serious cut, and steps up to the mike.

Watch your mouth
Hold your tongue boy
Because you're running out of breath
Running out of time
Before every careless word that you utter
renders you utterly useless
Now you're drowning in your own saliva
trying to speak yourself to the top of your empty world
keep on talking
just keep on rambling
you got your mouth full

Listen here's the pleasant part
you and I both fell apart
Listen here's the pleasant part
you and I both fell apart
(why can't you make up your mind)

Shut your mouth
burn your bridges
throw your words like an attack
wait a second what's that I just heard
nevermind it's obviously useless
now you're standing on your soapbox yelling at the rooftops (ROOFTOPS!)
everything you say is a lie, a lie, a lie, lie, lie, yeah!

Listen here's the clever one
speaks before his thoughts are done
listen here's the clever one
speaks before his thoughts are done
(why can't you make up your mind)

Watch your mouth
Hold your tongue
some things are better left unsaid
Now I hope you're pleased
you let your pride stand tall
It danced within your words right before you fall right before you--

Why don't you
Why don't you say that to my face
I've been ripped down torn down so many things
everything you every time you every word you say

If I told you this was killing me, would you stop?
(Note: "If I told you this was killing me, would you stop?" - The Juliana Theory)

He touches two fingers to his brow in a sketchy half-salute, and hops offstage, where the bird puts his claws back in.
