I found a bunch of stuf about upcoming shows and have gathered it here. Let me know if you find anything new. I have put my comments in color to distinguish them from the "press releasese".

...

ABC is moving Lost to 9pm Wednesdays starting after the finale.
...

Geena Davis plays Mackenzie Allen, the first female President of the United States in ABC's new series, Commander-in-Chief.
This is included because I say we build a background point about it. David Palmer (of 24) is our current president. There is a new election in 2008.

INVASION (ABC) - For centuries man has searched the skies for signs of intelligent life… but to no avail. What if the explanation lay in the fact that aliens were already here...already among us? And what if all of the natural disasters we have been experiencing of late were smokescreens designed to mask something far more ominous?

When yet another devastating hurricane threatens Florida, temporarily cutting off a small town at the edge of the Everglades, U.S. Park Ranger Russell Poole takes heroic measures to keep both the town's citizens and his family safe. In the middle of the violent storm, his young daughter is the only one to see small lights floating towards the water, seemingly unaffected by the vicious winds. At the time he thinks nothing of her claim, but begins to suspect that something may indeed be amiss when his missing ex-wife is found naked, with no memory of what happened during the storm.

As the tiny town struggles to recover while his nemesis, the Sheriff, quarantines the entire area, Poole begins to investigate the strange goings on, unwittingly beginning a fight for the survival of the human race.

...

September's schedule will also include ... a remake of the short-lived 1970s occult series Kolchak: The Night Stalker. There are things in the dark, things adults deny but children are right to fear…

When a pregnant woman is snatched from her home, the shocked citizens of L.A. believe it's an act of domestic violence. But crime reporter Carl Kolchak suspects that the truth is far more complicated. That's because 18 months ago, Kolchak's wife was killed in a bizarre fashion and he has been the FBI's #1 suspect ever since.

Kolchak's determination to find out the truth behind his wife's mysterious murder has led him to investigate other crimes that seem to have some kind of supernatural component. But he's trying to piece together a puzzle that keeps changing its shape. Who or what is committing these crimes? How are they all related? And why do some victims end up with a strange red mark on their hands in the shape of a snake? With sidekick Perri Reed, a sexy if skeptical fellow reporter in tow, Kolchak will go to any lengths to answer these questions. But when he does discover the truth – will anyone believe him?

Oh this is very cool. I remember Kolchak as one of the coolest shows on TV. It was Whedonesque before Joss was around. Funny, scary and always ready to turn your perceptions on their ear. I hope they do it right, and don't play this as a straight action sho...or a goofy parody.

Carnivale got cancelled (like Dead Like Me, it barely had a chance)

Battlestar Galactica Season 2 starts July 15. The series was SCI FI's highest-rated program during the winter season.

SCI FI is expected to air 10 episodes during the summer season, from July 15 into September. The second half of the season should begin airing in January.

Sky One in the U.K. is also expected to begin airing the new seasons this fall, with stations in other countries soon to follow.

...

"Fathom," Monday's new lead-off series [for NBC], is an undersea, "X-Files"-sounding adventure in which a previously undiscovered and quite beautiful marine life form pops up in locations around the world, a source of fascination and concern. It stars "Boston Legal" reject Lake Bell.

"FATHOM" -- Ever wonder what life would be like if a new form of sea life began to appear in locales all over the earth? In this expansive drama, those who are about to find out include some naval officers in the South Antarctic Sea, a family in San Diego, scientists from the Oceanographic Institute in Monterey, and fishermen in the Gulf of Mexico. The seemingly innocent creatures they find are beautiful and kids may even want to play with them -- but is there something more to them? One thing's for sure - they're full of surprises as viewers can embark on this unfathomable journey to discover what might be lurking in the sea.

SeaQuest anyone?

...

Smallville is going to be continued for a Fifth season. Charmed continues for an Eighth (dreary) season. And the WB has a show called Supernatural on their fall schedule Tuesdays at 9pm.

Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki, “Gilmore Girls”) has done his best to escape his family's eerie history, but, along with his older brother Dean (Jensen Ackles, “Smallville”), Sam is bound by tragedy and blood to a dangerous, other-worldly mission.

Criss-crossing the mysterious back roads of the country in their `67 Chevy Impala, the Winchester brothers search for their missing father – and hunt down every evil supernatural force they encounter along the way.

Fathom sounds like its based on the comic of the same name. I hope so--it's been rumored that there was a project based on it in development for years.

Ooh--and Kolchak sounds cool. I saw reruns of the early version, too on SCIFI Channel. The show's got Gabrielle Union I think, which is good. She needs some high-profile roles.

I'll follow LOST anywhere, but I'm saddened that ALIAS is on Thursday nights--during my one and only night class! AARGH!

Arcadia axed

CBS has cancelled Joan of Arcadia.

The Associated Press has announced that CBS has cancelled the 'seeing god everywhere' drama after disappointing second season ratings.

It will be replaced by a totally different show - Ghost Whisperer, starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, about a young wife who talks to dead people. Shades of both Joan and Dead Like Me we think.

This will be paired with the previously announce Threshold, about a team sent to approach aliens who have landed in the Atlantic Ocean.

Another 24 hours

24 has been renewed for two more seasons.

The Hollywood Reporter announced on Wednesday that Fox has commissioned more 24, taking the show's run up to at least 2007.

The future of the show on Fox was in doubt, with producers haggling over money. It was doubtful whether the show would be axed altogether, however, as it was rumoured that NBC was prepared to stump up the cash for 24 to continue.

There's no news on casting, and whether they'll repeat the practice of sacking everyone and then slowly reinstating them over the season's run.

More 24? My dad will be pleased, he's a BIG 24 addict...

Sci-Fi Wire wrote:
David Goyer, who co-created the CBS SF television pilot Threshold for CBS, told SCI FI Wire that the show's premise involves a new kind of alien invasion. "It's an interesting one-liner," Goyer said in an interview while promoting the DVD release of his latest film, Blade: Trinity. "It has to do with an alien invasion, but you never see the aliens. It's a very novel approach to an alien invasion story, because they're invading us through our DNA. They're bio-forming us. They're altering us."

Goyer said he based the idea of the series on an obscure scientific fact. "Something like 80 to 90 percent of our DNA is junk DNA," he said. "We don't know what it does. And the aliens have figured out a way to activate it and are slowly, literally, changing our chromosomes. They're basically, over the course of generations, turning us into them. Along with that they've got genetic racial memories, things like that, that they're starting to implant in us."

Goyer will direct the pilot and serves as an executive producer on the series, alongside Brannon Braga (Star Trek: Enterprise) and David Heyman (the Harry Potter films). Goyer said he has been involved in every aspect of the series so far, from writing to casting to editing. "I did all of that," he said. "I ended up doing a draft of it with Brannon. I was the one that set it up at the network, and then we brought Brannon in, and he and I wrote it, and he and I cast it, along with David Heyman. We did the whole thing."

Although CBS has not officially made a commitment to the series, Goyer is optimistic that the show will be on the network in the fall. "That's what they say," he said. "You never know for sure until you do the up-fronts [the yearly event in New York City where the networks roll out their schedules], but we're just finishing the post on it now. We'll know for sure in about five weeks."

Oh a new kind of invasion eh? Like "War of the Worlds" the TV series or X-Files or at least one other show I've seen.

Washington Times Entertainment wrote:
CBS' "Ghost Whisperer," [is] a Jennifer Love Hewitt vehicle based on the work of celebrity medium James Van Praagh about a newlywed communicating with dead people who have not quite crossed over to the other side.

There isn't a lot out there about this show. Bad sign. I give it till December to be axed.
